The American Baseball Coaches Associa-tion (ABCA) heads to the great South-west for its 65th annual convention as the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas will play host to more than 3,500 coaches Jan. 7-10. Committee and division meetings open the convention on Thursday, Jan. 7, the same day the exhibit hall opens.

Clinic sessions begin Friday, Jan. 8. ABCA Second Vice-President Tim Mead has arranged an outstanding speaker lineup for the coaching clinics, including Paul Mainieri, Louisiana State University; Mark Johnson, Sam Houston State Uni-versity; Dana Cavalea, New York Yan-kees; Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan; former major leaguers Tommy John and Buddy Biancalana; and many more of the finest baseball people in the world.

In the exhibit hall, 300 companies are expected to display state-of-the-art equipment, including new coaching aids, apparel, batting and pitching machines, and many new products being displayed for the first time. Other convention high-lights include the Hall of Fame/Coach of the Year Banquet on Friday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. and the Honors Luncheon on Sat-urday, Jan. 9, at 12:15 p.m.

Hall of Fame Welcomes Four New MembersThe ABCA welcomes four new mem-bers into its Hall of Fame as the Class of 2010: Terry Ayers, Fenton High School in Bensenville, Ill.; Mike Gillespie, Uni-versity of California-Irvine, University of Southern California, and College of the Canyons; Bob Milano, University of California; and Jim Stone, University of Massachusetts-Lowell. Biographies of the four inductees follow.

Terry Ayers has dedicated his life to coaching, enjoying great success at the high school and AAU levels. After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1966, where he played for ABCA Hall of Fame Coach Charlie Maher, Ayers received his Master of Arts degree from Northwestern Uni-versity in 1970 and was a graduate assistant with the football team. His high school coaching career began in 1972 as Head Baseball Coach at Fen-

ton High School in Bensenville, Ill., where he had a record of 334-231

before retiring in 1989. After Fenton, Ayers coached AAU baseball, tak-ing teams to the national tournament three times and compil-ing a 198-79 record. His internation-al coaching experience includes the

Pan American Games and time with several teams in Europe.

In 1990, Ayers became the Regional Director for the Doyle Baseball School. As regional director, he was the lead instructor at hundreds of baseball schools for players and coaches, giving coaching seminars in Michigan, Wiscon-sin, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, Kentucky, and Illinois. He is a member of the Pitch and Hit Club of Chicago, where he serves as secretary and is on the Board of Directors. He also co-chairs the club’s annual Showcase. In 2009, he received the Pitch and Hit Club’s Charlie Hum Service Award for contributions to the community in baseball.

Ayers has spoken at several state coach-es clinics in Illinois, Iowa, and Oklahoma, as well as the National Baseball Coaches Clinic in 1999 and the ABCA Clinic in 2001. An attendee at every ABCA clinic since 1973, he served 21 years on the ABCA Hall of Fame Committee and five on the Exhibitors Committee.

In 1999, Ayers was elected to the Illi-nois High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He received the Len DiForte Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998.

In 2006, Ayers came out of retirement after his son finished playing college baseball at the University of Louisville. He is currently the volunteer assistant pitching coach at St. Charles (Ill.) North High School, helping the team win a conference championship in 2007 as

well as regional championships in 2007 and 2008.

A college head coach for nearly three decades, Mike Gillespie continues to

be one of the top collegiate coaches in the country. In only two years at the helm at the University of California-Irvine, he has led the Ant-eaters into uncharted ter-ritory. In 2009, UC-Irvine was the consensus No. 1 team in

the nation and was awarded a No. 6 national seed in the NCAA tournament. Making its fourth consecutive postsea-son appearance, UC-Irvine served as a regional host for the first time in the program’s history.

Under Gillespie’s leadership, the Ant-eaters won their first ever Big West Conference title in 2009, claiming the championship with a 22-2 mark in league play and posting the Big West’s second-highest win percentage at .916. The Anteaters were a perfect 12-0 at home in conference action and recorded their third straight 40-win sea-son, finishing at 45-15 and posting the program’s second-highest number of victories since becoming a Division I program in 1977-78. At the conclusion of the regular season, a school-record 10 Anteaters were honored on the Big West All-Conference teams, and Gillespie was voted Conference Coach of the Year, his fifth such honor.

Gillespie, who took over the reins of the UC-Irvine program in the fall of 2007, continues to add to his storied career. At the beginning of the 2009 season, he ranked 24th in victories among active coaches at the Division I level, Gillespie now owns an 850-504-2 mark and a .627 winning percentage.

Gillespie’s coaching log includes a 20-year career at the University of South-ern California, where he guided the

His teams finished with 20 or more wins in 13 years of his tenure, posting 30-plus wins six times. His final squad won 41 games in 1986, the most-ever by a California community college at that time. His term included three Cali-fornia Community College Co-Coach of the Year awards. Gillespie also served as Canyon’s Athletic Director from 1977-1986 and taught English, physi-cal education, and health education. He earned his bachelor’s (1962) and mas-ter’s (1963) degrees from USC.

One of college baseball’s most esteemed coaches, Bob Milano retired in 1999 as the most successful baseball

coach at the University of California with 688 career vic-tories. Head coach for 22 years of his 29 years in the Cal baseball program, Mila-no’s coaching career included three College World Series appearanc-es, a stint as

head coach of the 1997 United States National Team, and a gold medal as an assistant coach for the U.S. National Team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

There was little Milano did not accom-plish in college baseball. During his time as head coach of the Golden Bears (1978-1999), Milano led his team to College World Series appearances in 1980, 1988, and 1992; six NCAA Regional appearances (1980, 1985, 1988, 1991, 1992, 1995) and a Pac-10 Southern Division title in 1980—the same year the team placed third at the College World Series.

Milano concluded his coaching career with a 688-644-4 record, including Pac-10 Conference Southern Division Co-Coach of the Year awards in 1980 and 1992. The veteran coach mentored 15 All-Americans and 49 all-conference selections during his head coaching career at Cal, including National Fresh-man of the Year Xavier Nady in 1998.

In 1987, Milano was the head coach of the USA National Baseball Team that placed fourth at the Intercontinental Cup in Barcelona, Spain, and included former Cal players Brian Oliver and Jason Hill on the roster. He was also an assistant athletic director at Cal from

Trojans to 15 postseason appearances, four College World Series appearances (1995, 1998, 2000, and 2001), and a national title in 1998, when Gillespie was named National Coach of the Year by Collegiate Baseball and the ABCA.

Gillespie posted a 763-471-2 (.618) record during his tenure at USC, produc-ing 28 major league players, including five who were voted to the All-Star Game roster in 2003 (Mark Prior, Barry Zito, Aaron Boone, Bret Boone, and Geoff Jenkins). His reign at USC began in 1987, and in just his second season, he guided the Trojans to the West Regional, falling just one game shy of the College World Series. USC then made four consecutive regional appearances, including winning the conference title in 1991.

Starting in 1993, Gillespie led USC to an impressive 10 consecutive postsea-son appearances that included back-to-back College World Series appearances in 2000 and 2001, marking the first time USC accomplished the feat since 1973 and 1974. His teams won five Pacific-10 Conference titles, and he garnered Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors four times (1991, 1995, 1996, 2002) and West Regional Coach of the Year accolades twice (1996 and 1998) from the ABCA.

In 2000, Gillespie directed his talents to the USA Baseball National team, lead-ing the squad to a 27-3-1 record and posting the highest winning percentage (.900) in history until the mark was sur-passed by the 2003 team. The national team reeled off a 21-game unbeaten streak at the end of the season, includ-ing the Haarlem Honkbal Week champi-onship in the Netherlands, where Team USA captured the crown with an 8-5 win over Cuba. For his efforts, Gillespie was nominated by the United States Olym-pic Committee as the Baseball Coach of the Year. It was his second stint with USA Baseball, having served as an assistant coach on the 1997 USA team.

He is one of only two men (along with Arizona’s Jerry Kindall) to both play for and coach an NCAA-championship baseball team. He was the left fielder for USC’s 1961 national championship squad and coached the 1998 team to the program’s 12th title.

Before coaching at USC, Gillespie coached at the College of the Can-yons where he built the program from scratch. In his 16 seasons at Canyons, Gillespie compiled a 418-165 (.717) record and won 11 Mountain Valley Conference championships, including six consecutive from 1981-1986. He captured three state titles and twice fin-ished as the California runner-up.

1974-1978 and a member of the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee from 1990-1996.

In all, he spent 29 years directly associ-ated with the Cal baseball family (1960-1961 as a player; 1962-1963 as a var-sity assistant; 1974-1977 as an assistant coach). On March 19, 1994, Milano became the winningest coach in Cal baseball history, surpassing Clint Evans’s mark of 547-256 (1930-1954) when his Bears defeated Arizona, 15-6, at Evans Diamond. The Cal athletic department went on to honor Milano on April 17, 1994, which was designated “Bob Mila-no Day.” Another crowning moment for the veteran coach came in 2003 when he became only the fourth person in Cal baseball history to have his game jersey (No. 7) retired.

It is fitting that Milano should be the school’s most successful baseball coach, as he has not only produced results on the diamond, but has also worked hard to cultivate the Cal baseball family. He began every year with the annual Cal Baseball Alumni Game, followed by the season-opening banquet that often featured past and present Major League stars.

A list of professional players who have passed through Cal baseball under Mila-no include Rod Booker, Bob Melvin, Lance Blankenship, Chuck Cary, Chuck Hensley, Jerry Goff, Jeff Kent, Kevin Maas, Darren Lewis, Mike Cather, Geoff Blum, Ryan Drese, Tyler Walker, and Xavi-er Nady. A native of the Bay Area, Milano was born in Oakdale, Cal., and raised in Oakland. He attended Bishop O’Dowd High School before coming to Cal.

In 2003, Jim Stone capped his 37th and final year at the helm of the UMass-Lowell baseball team, finishing with a career record 801-393-7 (.667). During his tenure, Stone was named the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Associa-tion (NEIBA) Division II Coach of the Year nine times and earned Northeast Region Coach of the Year honors five times.

Since 1976, 21 of Stone’s teams gar-nered postseason berths, including the 2001 and 2002 squads, which advanced to the Division II College World Series, the latter advancing to the semifinal round. Over his last 22 seasons, the River Hawks won 20 games each year and 30 games seven times. UML also earned NCAA Tournament berths in 14

seasons, including each of Stone’s last seven years.

In addition to earning NEIBA Coach of the Year honors, Stone was also named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Coach of the Year six times and Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year in 2003. In 1991, Stone was hon-ored with the Jack Butterfield Award—

presented to an active coach for his contri-butions to New England base-ball—by the NEIBA.

A 1960 gradu-ate of Spring-field College, Stone played on Springfield’s 1958 NCAA East Coast Col-lege Division championship

team and captained the 1960 team for coach Archie Allen, also an ABCA Hall of Fame member. He began his coach-ing career at Tilton-Northfield (N.H.)

High School in 1960 and moved to Mascoma (N.H.) Regional High School in 1963 before coming to what was then known as Lowell Technological Institute in 1965.

Many of Stone’s former players have moved on to sign professional contracts, including 1987 National League Gold Glove winner Mike LaValliere (1979- 1981). In 2002, catcher Matt Tupman was drafted in the ninth round by Kansas City and is playing with the Royals’ AAA affiliate Omaha. Former standout Billy Moloney (1978) is currently a pitching coach in the Tampa Bay Rays system in Port Charlotte, Fla. Additionally, former shortstop Marc Deschenes was drafted in the 20th round by Cleveland in 1995 and ascended to the AA Portland Sea Dogs and the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox as a pitcher in 2005 and 2006.

Throughout his career, Stone has given plenty back to the sport, having served as President of NEIBA. He also served as the Chair of the Exhibitors Com-mittee for the ABCA Convention from 1992 to 2008, and spent many years as a member of the ABCA All-America Committee and the NCAA Northeast

Region Advisory Committee. Stone was inducted into the UMass-Lowell Hall of Fame in Nov. 2003.

ABCA/Wilson Lefty Gomez Award Goes to Charlie GreeneThe ABCA/Wilson Lefty Gomez Award is one of the most prestigious in all of

amateur base-ball. Named after the great Lefty Gomez, this award is presented by the Ameri-can Baseball Coaches Asso-ciation each year to an indi-vidual who has distinguished himself amongst his peers and has

contributed significantly to the game of baseball locally, nationally, and interna-tionally. This year’s recipient is Charlie

Greene, former Head Coach at Miami Dade College.

Greene started the baseball program at Miami Dade and guided the team for 28 seasons. He recorded six seasons of 40 or more wins, seven conference champion-ships, three state titles, and one national championship (1981). He has also spent more than 10 summers working in profes-sional baseball as a pitching coach.

Greene was the first Junior College coach to serve as ABCA President (1990) and the first appointed Head Coach of Team USA (1989). He is a member of the ABCA Board of Directors, where he serves on the Veterans Hall of Fame Committee and is pursuing measures to curtail throwing injuries.

Two of his former players were selected as the top amateur player in the country. Orlando Gonzalez won the prestigious Lefty Gomez Plate in 1974 and Alex Fer-nandez claimed the Golden Spikes Award in 1990. Twenty-six of his players at Miami Dade reached the major leagues includ-ing his son, Charlie Greene Jr.

Coach Greene has spoken at numerous ABCA clinics and served as a clinician

many times in Europe, Latin America, Curacao, Aruba, and throughout the United States. He has been involved in writing close to 200 articles for Colle-giate Baseball and several books while also serving as Editor/Author for ABCA publications Gold Glove Baseball and The Baseball Coaching Bible.

Honors LuncheonEach year, the Honors Luncheon is one of the convention highlights since it allows the American Baseball Coaches

Association to pay tribute to some very spe-cial people. This year is no exception.

Three outstand-ing individuals will receive the ABCA Honor Award. Dray-ton McLane is the President and CEO of the Houston Astros,

which he has owned since 1993. The Astros have been one of Major League Baseball’s leading franchises in his tenure, reaching the post season six times while winning four division championships, and one National League Championship. A 1995 inductee into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame, McLane enjoyed a very suc-cessful business career before buying the Astros, building the grocery distribu-

tion business founded by his grandfather into a multi-bil-lion dollar cor-poration.

A 1999 induct-ee into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Nolan Ryan enjoyed great suc-cess on the mound dur-ing his 27-year career, setting

major league records with 5,714 strike outs and seven no-hitters. Currently the President of the Texas Rangers, Ryan is also the lead owner of a pair of minor

league teams, the Corpus Christi Hooks and the Round Rock Express.

Jim Sundberg was a three-time all-star and won six Gold Gloves as a catcher for five major league teams over 16 seasons.

An All-Ameri-can catcher at the University of Iowa, Sun-dberg now serves as Senior Executive Vice-President for Communica-tions and Pub-lic Relations for the Texas Rang-ers.

Any ABCA member may nominate an

individual for the Honor Award. The Nominating/Awards Committee then reviews the nominations and selects indi-viduals to receive this award. Past recipi-ents include former President George H. W. Bush, John Grisham, Dick Enberg, Sparky Anderson, Sandy Alderson, Cal Ripken, Jr., Terry Francona, Michael

Josephson, Bruce Brown, Dale Pet-roskey, Joe Garagiola, Jr., and former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

Other award presentations at the Hon-ors Luncheon will be 25-Year Coaching Awards, ABCA/TURFACE Field Mainte-nance Awards, and the Assistant Coach of the Year Award.

Virginia’s McMullan Named Top AssistantKevin McMullan of the University of Virginia has been selected the ABCA/Baseball America Assistant Coach of the Year. Coach McMullan is in his seventh year at Virginia and fourth as Associate Head Coach. He serves as the Cavaliers’ recruiting coordinator and hitting coach and works defensively with the infield-ers and catchers.

McMullan is known as one of the top recruiters and developers of players in the country. He has helped guide Vir-ginia to 265 wins in his six seasons—an average of 44 wins per season. Virginia also has earned six consecu-tive NCAA tournament appearances as well as three number-one seeds.

The 2009 team made the Cavaliers’ first appearance in the College World Series. McMullan has also coached at

East Carolina, St. John’s, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The criteria for the award were established by the ABCA and Baseball Amer-ica and involve all aspects of coach-ing. Coach-ing expertise, recruiting, loy-

alty to the program, and respect for the players and the game are all considered in the selection process.

Coach McMullan will receive the Assis-tant Coach of the Year Award at the Honors Luncheon on Saturday, Jan. 9.

Previous recipients of this outstand-ing honor are Dean Stotz, Stanford; Tim Corbin, Clemson; Brian O’Connor, Notre Dame; Jim Toman, South Caro-

lina; Jim Lawler, Texas A&M; Dave Serrano, Cal State Fullerton; Bob Wojick, Eastern Connecticut State; Mitch Thompson, Baylor; Fritz Ham-burg, U.S. Military Academy; and Rob Fornasiere, Minnesota.

HACK ATTACK | JUNIOR HACK ATTACK

B A S E B A L L P i t c h i n g M a c h i n e s

Due to the unique 3-wheel design, you can see the ball clearly all the way through the feeding motion, acceleration and release, just like a live pitcher.

The hitter sees when to stride and the angle of release, giving him an actual live-arm sense of timing and location.

Using 3 wheels, the Hack Attack throws all pitches - from major league fastball to right and left handed breaking pitches - all with a simple and immediate speed dial adjustment (No awkward or time consuming moving of the throwing head).

Extremely mobile; on and off the fi eld with ease.

As proven by our extensive customer list of the top programs in the country, in a very short time the Hack Attack’s “complete-vision design” has made it the most valuable training tool on the market today.

It’s the only windscreen with lock-stitch finishing of every end and corner, eliminating the unraveling problem of all competitive chain-stitched windscreens.Available in 15 colors: Black, Midnight Green, Medium Green, Navy, Royal, Purple, Orange, Burnt Orange, Gold, Vegas Gold, Beige, Red, White, Maroon, and Grey. QUICK SHIPMENT. Ask your dealer for quality Tuffy® Windscreen.

Chroma-Bond™ IMPRINTINGAwesome multi-color imprinting on Tuffy® Windscreen that solves the shortcomings of hand stenciled, sprayed-on, or digital printing (ragged edges, flaking, fading, white digital backside). We use state-of-the-art graphics technology and proprietary techniques to produce sharp, durable images in single or multi-colors. Chroma-Bond Imprinting is more scuff and sunlight fade resistant than digital imprinting, and is surprisingly more economical.

True InnovationThe BASEBALLANCE is the first cross-curricular baseball training aid. Designed to accelerate learning through feel and muscle memory, it also emphasizes and improves dynamic balance. Among the many specific ways it isolates move-ments for every player at every position and through every baseball act, the BASEBALLANCE allows the hitter to see and feel when he is loaded while also allowing the pitcher to see and feel the load or the power drive position. The BASEBALLANCE forces athletic position and athletic, flowing movements. BASEBALLANCE • 540-383-3848 www.baseballance.com Circle No. 565

Proven Winner Chooses a Winning ProductLouisiana State University Head Coach Paul Mainieri has been named the 2009 National Coach of the Year by Rivals.com. It marks the third National Coach of the Year designation this year for Mainieri, who has also been recog-nized by Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America.

“The Hack Attack is a great training tool for our hitters and catchers,” Mainieri says. “It is as good as live pitching with its vision and timing. It throws accurate breaking pitches, it’s indestructible, and it’s easy to operate and move. We used the Hack Attack every day on the long, tough road to Omaha. There are few products that I endorse, but I really believe in this machine.”

The exclusive design of the Hack Attack baseball pitching machine allows the hitter to see the ball clearly all the way through the feeding motion, accel-eration, and release, just like with a live pitcher. The Hack Attack throws unmatched right-and left-handed major league fastballs at up to 100 mph, and all breaking pitches by simply changing the speed of the wheels with three dials.

Equipment Supplier Helps Outfit New Baseball Facility With All The Essentials

Jaypro Sports, LLC976 Hartford TurnpikeWaterford, CT 06385800-243-0533Fax: 800-988-3363info@jaypro.comwww.jaypro.com

When RHAM High School built a new school building, the baseball team was excited about being able to play on a brand new field. Who would hit the first home run out of the new park? Meanwhile, the coaching staff was worried about the amount of money they would be losing with each and every foul ball. The field was adjacent to a horse pasture, and every foul ball meant a pretty penny spent.

The coaching staff contacted equipment dealer after equip-ment dealer in search of a batting cage. They were finally for-tunate to connect with the team of specialists at Jaypro. The Grand Slam Batting Cage was extremely easy to set up and take down, and it was safe and reliable. The Jaypro team even helped set up the batting cage and explained the complete process to ensure proper maintenance and use of the product.

The players and coaches love the new batting cage’s profes-sional-level feel. Players are able to stand around it, listen to instruction, and continue to improve while hitting in the cage. The coaches say it has been an excellent way to improve hit-ting instruction, as well as save on the cost of baseballs.

In fact, they were so pleased with Jaypro and its excellent reputation that they have since ordered a pitchers protector and an outdoor batting tunnel. It is vital that players and coaches are protected when they throw batting practice, and the protector is one of the safest and most reliable pieces of equipment available. The batting tunnel saves countless hours in hitting instruction and helps players who need extra development. It has met and exceeded all of the program’s expectations.

Topdressing Saves the DayWhat do you do if you’re hosting a regional baseball tournament, it has been

raining all morning, and four of your five infields are mud? You move the tournament to the field that has the Game-On product applied. This scenario actu-

ally played out at a baseball tournament in Stark County, Ohio, this past June. When the rain stopped, the only play-able field was the one that had been treated with Game-On Red topdressing. Using that field, the tournament was completed as scheduled. DiGeronimo Aggregates, LLC • 888-593-0395 www.hayditegame-on.com Circle No. 572

All In the HipsHitting for power? Try the Power Bag from Muhl Tech. It was designed to teach hit-ters to use their lower half when hitting the ball—not just to rotate the hips, but actually to use them as a power source when driv-ing through the ball. The Power Bag allows the hitter to power through contact and finish the swing. Use good point-of-contact

mechanics and the bag will swing higher (visual reward). Use lazy hips, rolled wrists, or swing around the ball and the bag will not move nearly as much. Muhl Tech 888-766-8772 • www.muhltech.com Circle No. 575

American Baseball Coaches Association MembershipIn 1945, a group of college baseball coaches gathered in New York City to formulate ideas for the promotion and improve-

ment of collegiate baseball. That group founded what is known today as the American Baseball Coaches Association. Over the past 65 years, the association has grown to include membership in every division of amateur baseball and is

recognized as the world’s largest baseball association.

The main objective of the ABCA is educational in nature, helping to improve the level of coaching. The ABCA helps to promote rapport among the coaches and the divisions within baseball and recognizes deserving players and coaches through

several sponsorship/award programs.

Membership for the ABCA is only $30 per year for US residents (plus $3 handling fee), $35 for Canadian members (plus $3 handling fee), and $40 for international members (plus $3 handling fee). All memberships must be paid in US funds. The ABCA does not accept purchase orders.

Company Q&A

Exploring New Wireless Control OptionsWith Jeff Reeser

Fair-Play ScoreboardsP.O. Box 1847Des Moines, IA 50306800-247-0265Fax: 515-265-3364sales@fair-play.comwww.fair-play.com

Jeff Reeser is the National Sales Manager for Fair-Play Scoreboards, where he oversees all aspects of sales and works closely with the manufac-turing and support teams to ensure needs are satisfied. “I want to continue strengthening Fair-Play’s legacy as an innovator and industry leader in sports scoring technology,” he says.

What is the idea behind Fair-Play’s new wireless technology, which has ultimately led to the introduction of the MP-72, MiScore, MiTime, and MiClock controls?Having been a supplier of wireless technology for quite some time, we understand that the technology has improved over the past few years and that its usage has increased significantly. It only makes sense to utilize the best technology available, and that’s what we have done with our new wireless system. This new system has also allowed us to expand our product capabilities dramatically. Our handheld wireless MiScore scoreboard control, our wireless MiTime delay of game field timer control, and our wireless MiClock game clock control would not even be possible without our new wireless system.

What feedback have you received about these latest innovations? We live in an increasingly wireless world. People love the con-venience of our wireless system first and foremost, as well as its reliability. Our customers are raving about the portability that our new handheld controls have given them. Many of our customers are even opting to purchase extra handheld controls for their coaches to use during practices. Practice setup has become even easier for coaching staffs.

What unique features does the MiScore controller have, and what specific markets are taking advantage of this new product?Controlling a Fair-Play scoreboard has become as easy as changing channels on your TV. MiScore controls are a great fit for facilities where portability is key and operation from the sideline or on the field or court is essential. MiScore offers a smaller footprint and even more program features than Fair-Play’s original MP-30 control. Its simple and intuitive operation is easily learned by first-time users. Our customers can use MiScore controls for many baseball, football, and bas-ketball scoreboards. It’s recommended for many types of facili-ties, from small recreational venues to large arenas. One con-trol can operate up to eight scoreboards in the same facility.

If a customer is purchasing a new Fair-Play scoreboard and MP-72 wireless control, why should they also consider MiTime? The additional control really fills a need that many users have experienced in the past. Across the country, game officials are

taking more control of time operation. Fair-Play has put that control in the palm of their hands with MiTime, which works seamlessly with Fair-Play’s new MP-72 wireless unit. Officials have really enjoyed the simplicity of the system itself and found it quite easy to operate and use with our field timers.

How have users benefited from the new MiClock controls?MiClock is designed for use by referees, game officials, coaches, and scorekeepers to operate the game clock. MiClock communicates wirelessly with our MP-72 control, which syn-chronizes all of the scoreboards and game clocks. MiClock is essential in conferences mandating that the referees control the game clock. MiClock controls are ideal for all facilities with scoreboards that utilize MP-72 wireless controls and have game clocks.

What does an existing customer need to do in order to upgrade to any of Fair-Play’s new wireless controls? To order or upgrade to any of Fair-Play’s newest wireless tech-nology, a school can just contact our factory or their Fair-Play dealer. We’ll be happy to assess each situation and help with recommendations to ensure their gyms and playing field scor-ing systems are set up for maximum efficiency and reliability.
