Commas in a Series
A comma (,) tells your
reader where to pause.
Commas help the
meaning of a sentence
clear.
A series is a list of
three of more items in a
sentence.
Example #1
I like to dance, sing,
and play my violin.
A conjuction, such as
and or or, is used before
the last item in a series.
You MUST use a
comma before the
conjunction.
Example #2
Everyone will sing,
dance, or play an
instrument.
Example #3
She will play the
saxophone, trumpet,
and flute.
Do NOT use a comma if
a sentence lists only two
items.
Example #4
I play the guitar and
piano.
