CSB of Middle GeorgiaRFT SHOWCASE 2018
The Acquisition
• DBHDD recognized that changes needed to be made with the CSB’s in order to stay financially sustainable, and to remain as viable entities in support of the GA Public Safety Net. This set up the opportunity to think about merging CSB’s.
• CSBMG and OBHS had many parallel demographic characteristics including serving predominately rural communities, having a similar corporate culture, and a history of collaboration.
• CSBMG and OBHS began discussion in 2014 about a potential merge. The two agencies became one on, July 1, 2017,bringing the CSBMG’s service area to a full 16 counties that stretches from the Middle Georgia area to the South Carolina line.

On the Road
Due to our merger, C.E.O. Denise Forbes decided to take a
tour of the original OBHS Service Centers and to spend
some quality time with the

Supportive Living/CLS
Emanuel County Service Center
They and their staff were well versed in all areas
of I/DD programing and CLS services. The time
spent with them was helpful in understanding the
overall I/DD operations for the Ogeechee Division.

I/DD Tour
Caral Johnson and her staff at Screven Service Center pitch in and help in every position/role at their program.
Caral’s passion is infectious, and is mirrored by her staff; all of which is a major PLUS for the OD.
It was especially fun watching the dance line while at Screven.
Jenkins County Service Center
It was touching to see that much of the artwork
of the consumers was displayed.
The building itself had been originally built to
house a detox clinic.
Staff were engaging, customer friendly, and
interested in making the lives of their participants better.
Burke County Service Center
I/DD Tour
It was touching to hear Jerel introduce his
staff by name and discuss what each of the
staff do at the center.
Most importantly, as he mentioned each staff
member by name, he mentioned that he/she
was someone whom he cares a great deal
about.
We were led on a guided tour led by two very articulate
and well versed Center Ambassadors, Wanda and Jerel.
Wanda could also be JCSC’s very own “historian”,
with this new title added to her name badge!

due to in-clinic appointments”
“Who will explain to the school that my baby was
placed in the CSU because she is sad, not crazy?”
“I have never been offered a 504 Plan for my child.”
“I feel that at meetings it is me against the school.”
“I don’t have gas to come see the doctor, I barely
have groceries.”
Our Response:

RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE
We Believe
"A customer is the most
important visitor on our
premises. He is not dependent
on us. We are dependent on
him. He is not an interruption
in our work. He is the purpose
of it. He is not an outsider in
our business. He is part of it.
We are not doing him a favor
by serving him. He is doing us
a favor by giving us an
opportunity to do so."
