Montage

• A technique where you take different clips from a film and you blend them together.

Clips

• A video that describes what is going on.

Continuity

• A shot of films that carries on from one scene all the way to another.

Non-Continuity

• A scene which doesn’t carry on from the last scene and starts afresh.

Colour/Balance Connection

• Sorting out the colour in the film and making it look better then it original did.

Render

• Mixing up all your footage that you have finished and putting them all together.

Establishing Shot

• A shot of what is the main focus of the image for the whole audience to see.

Transitioning

• A scene that cuts from one to another. Usually when the scene ends, it fades to black to show it ending or we can see when the scene is finished by one transitioning to another.

Film Language, Hot Fuzz – The Battle Of Sandford.

Activity 1• In this scene Angel arrives in the village. We first see the

villains reaction to the protagonist making his way to the village. We see close ups of their faces as they are in disbelief, as they see Angel. The editing gets faster as we see close ups of Angel, the villains and his friend all linked through straight cuts. As the music gets tense, so does the editing. And it all comes together as Angel says “Morning” which begins the very western action scene.

Activity 2• The different shots that are taken that show the

villagers are all composed in different matters. The way each shot is different is shown through the way the camera goes closer to them to show there reactions. They are also different by how the camera is still and shows the emotions, that the villagers are expressive. Whether this is a medium shot or a close up.
