An interactive installation depicting the interesting traditional art & crafts of Jaipur helping tourists to feel the true essence of tradition and help them connect to the root of the culture.

It helps tourists to explore the interesting traditional elements that symbolizes Jaipur, in a way helping people to connect to the root and help tourism industry to bloom

A complete structure is designed to explain these arts and crafts. The structure consists of 12 Jarokhas representing different elements of arts and crafts. Jarokha is chosen as a metaphor to showcase Jaipurism.

Interactive Installation

The interactive installation, Dharohar - unearthing traditions of Jaipur is designed to be placed at public spaces such as airports, open public spaces at the touristic spots at Jaipur and other places in the state.

The installation has majorly two elements1. A complete wooden structure consisting of Jarokhas2. 3 screen showcasing information specific to the contents inside Jarokhas

The installation is suppose to be placed in the dark space. Once, people approach to the installation and press the button on the Jarokha, the Jarokha will lighten up showcasing the art. On the other side, screen will showcase information specific to the art with a traditional audio

By pressing a button (showcased here with white circle) given on every Jarokha representing different art and craft element, it will showcase information about the specific craft on the near by screen. The essence of the elements will be further added through a traditional audio running with the visual information

Working of the installation

We have currently made a working prototype, that can be further developed to a product to install at several public spaces at Jaipur or anywhere in the state

The proposed installation can be scaled to a series of installations to promote tourism of Rajasthan in the world. The content need not to be specific to art and craft, but can range upto varied traditional elements of Rajasthan
