Did ReverendRobert Stirlingever imagine
that his enginewould be making the running
at the very start of the new millennium?

The gold st
of the 21
century is
called
“energy”
Yes. Because imagination is the most
powerful of all engines.
Visionaries are people who can imagine what others can
see only when it is there. For example, an engine that is
powered by “light and air” and that generates thermal
energy and electricity
Inventors blessed with the gift of foresight know that a new
idea follows the laws of evolution:
If it doesn't offer any benefits, it's not going to be around for
very long. If it solves a problem, it will develop further until it
reaches a new level of laws: the laws of the market.
For almost 200 years, generations of inventors have been
constantly improving the Stirling engine. Today, it is ready
for series production and entry into one of the largest
markets of the future.
Because:
With increasing technological progress, the need for
energy is also increasing. Therefore, energy costs will
increase even if electricity prices fall. Energy is the gold of st
the 21 century. Whoever has the means to generate
energy is sitting on a goldmine.

Better looking and
more useful
than your own oil well:®
a SUNMACHINE
Imagine you've got a fascinating
sculpture in your garden that
transfixes the gaze of your visitors.
The large concave mirror automatically traces the path of
the sun. The concentrated energy gets the Stirling engine
up to speed at an output of 2.5 kW and supplies your whole
house with heat, water for domestic use and electricity.
No energy costs, no operating costs and 80,000 hours
without any maintenance whatsoever.
It's not difficult to imagine the good
you'll be doing our environment.
In the summer months and when you're away on holiday,
the Sunmachine is particularly productive, despite the fact
that your house has a lower energy requirement during this
time.
The excess energy is fed into the grid against payment and
is used to top up your energy account held at the public
utility companies.
The solid design is just as robust as it looks. It defies
hurricanes up to force 12 and will still be around to meet the
energy needs of your grandchildren.
Operation is easy:
Switch OFF = Sunmachine is not in operation
Switch ON = Sunmachine produces thermal energy and
electricity

The latest Stirling engine: we've known how it
functions for 200 years. And now we can
guarantee that it does function.
The principle: gas enclosed in a cylinder
expands, contracts, expands again…. and this
moves two pistons that rotate the axle of a
generator.
Temperatures of up to 3000C are attained at the
focal point. No exhaust gases and no energy
costs.
That is x times as high as in the combustion
chamber of an oil-fired boiler. If the sun's rays
are weak, the in-built gas burner switches on
automatically. Thus, the engine ensures a
steady supply of heat, water for domestic use
and electricity. If no heat is required, the whole
plant functions as an air-conditioning system!
An attraction in itself: the calyx technology.
The revolutionary parabolic mirror made of
highly transparent, iron-free solar glass was
developed especially for the Sunmachine. The
calyx consists of eight individual petals which
have a durable silver coating and are sealed to
make them weatherproof. The non-scratch
surface is resistant to hail and able to withstand
desert sandstorms.
Automatic solar tracking
Controlled by an internal clock, the engine's
movements mirror those of a plant following the
sun.
It can replace a modern
condensing boiler with six
solar collectors and a good
photo-voltaic system.
However, it lasts longer
and doesn't cost as much.
thTo celebrate its 100
anniversary, the
Wolfgangshof Estate near
Nuremberg will once again
be opening its doors:
Carefully renovated, it will demonstrate its new lease
of life as solar park, proving ground and
demonstration centre for Stirling engines. Visitors are
always welcome since, in parallel to the industrial
use of the historical building, the infrastructure of the
traditional farm estate will be reinstalled. A few
horses, a few highland cattle, goats and geese to
invigorate the scene and exemplify the philosophy:
the meaningful synthesis of tradition and progress
and the symbiotic co-existence of man, animal and
technology in a wonderful and vital world that is well
equipped to face the future.
TCustomers and visitors from
all over Europe can come to
see the pilot project for a
functioning “Noah's Ark” of the st
21 century.
The energy is supplied
exclusively via Sunmachine
power units. All three types are demonstrated in real
use:

SUNMACHINE ® GAS
SUNMACHINE ® WOOD CHIPS
There's no better way of demonstrating that industry,
agriculture and our own private lives are far from
dependent on harmful forms of energy.
Soon you'll hardly recognise
the estate of the Count of
Faber-Castell:
Not even Jules Verne could
have come up with anything
better.

Even when driven by gas in the cellar, primary energy consumption and energy costs are reduced by half. And pollution of the environment is reduced by 90%!
Now that it can be fuelled with wood, the Stirling engine can also be used effectively in solid-fuel boilers.
Not every property is suitable for displaying a
futuristic object. But every cellar has space for this
particularly noble form of understatement: The ®
SUNMACHINE GAS.
It is operated by natural gas, biogas or
liquid gas and yet offers all the
advantages of Stirling technology:
providing your house with an
economical and environmentally-
friendly supply of heat, water for
domestic use and electricity. The idea
is nothing new. However, the “Stirling
engine in the gas boiler” has only become suitable
for domestic use due to the development of the new ®
FLOX recuperator burner that, at combustion
temperatures of 1000C, delivers the necessary
efficiency and drastically reduces the level of exhaust
pollution by means of flame-less oxidation.
The new wood pellets represent the most
elegant method of heating with wood. They
consist 100% of wood dust compressed
without the use of binding agents and they
have a very high energy density, comparable
with that of oil.
Their ecological values, however, are incomparable:
pellets are a biomass product made from regenerative
raw materials. They burn without producing CO . 2
The exhaust gas has a low particle content and is
smoke-free. The pellets are delivered by tanker and
blown through a hose
into the storage
container. From there, a
fully automated system
feeds them into the
SUNMACHINE where
they are then burned in
a special pellet burner
leaving no residue
whatsoever.
There's no better way
of heating with wood.

environmentally-aware house
owners
The inside story for Stirling
technology enthusiasts
When burned, fossil fuels are converted into carbon.
One part carbon (C) combines with two parts oxygen
(O). Your chimney releases three times the weight of
the oil you burn into the atmosphere in the form of
CO . At a consumption level of 4,000 litres of heating 2
oil per year, this makes 12 tonnes of CO !2
The new Stirling engine STA 520-25 runs on normal
nitrogen extracted from the ambient air at a moderate
pressure of 0.6 2.5 Mpa.
The compressed working medium is generated in the
plant itself by a specially developed miniature electric
compressor that operates according to the molecular
separation principle. This solves the problem of gas
loss in engines running on helium.
The Stirling engine is maintenance-free. For the first
time, thanks to a joint development with the University
of Darmstadt, innovative, permanently lubricated roller
bearings with solid lubricant are used. Another
innovation is the dry-running material matings for
pistons, piston rings and cylinder wall; these were
developed in co-operation with the University of ®
Erlangen specifically for use in SUNMACHINE power
units.
Oil has been dead for millions of years. And it's buried
so deep that the toxins concentrated within it cannot
escape “naturally” into the atmosphere.
So why don't we just leave it to rest in peace? Fresh,
living energy comes down to us every day from above.
And helping the environment will bring you financial
rewards:
Owners of Sunmachines save up to
$2,000 a year and this over
decades.

When the Stirling engine was
advertised for the first time, it still
had a srew loose:
Three years before we had solved the technical
problem of helium escaping from the engine's cylinder,
which necessitated further seven-digit development
costs, we were interested in the fundamental reaction
of the market to the engine.
The response to the advertising campaign for the
Stirling engine as reflected in
the two magazines, STERN
and SPIEGEL, was
overwhelming: the
advertisement with the nun
was awarded the title
“favourite advert of the week”
by W & V magazine. The
Lutheran church imposed a
temporary injunction on our
advertising agency, there were numerous enquiries
from the Ministry for the Environment and some 1500
communications relating to each of the 12
advertisements. Thousands encouraged us to
continue and many asked for an option on the first
series-produced engines as the adverts had made no
secret of the fact that the engine was still at the
development stage.
For us, this test campaign was just one more
proof of the incredibly good prospects for the
SUNMACHINE.
