Saliva helps break down in a form your body can absorb

Esophagus

Located in your throat

Receives food from your mouth

Delivers food down to your stomach

Stomach

Container that holds food while your body is breaking down food

Where food is liquefied

Released in the small intestine

Gall Bladder

Stores and concentrates bile

Releases it into the duodenum

Helps absorb and digest fat

Small Intestine

Long tube beneath the stomach

Protects body from infections

Absorbs nutrients, vitamins, and minerals

Large Intestine

5 feet long tubeRemoves waste

products from your body

Gets pushed out of your body

Liver

Makes bileSterilizes the blood

coming from the small intestine

Includes nutrients it just absorbed
