Travel Log 2013• Society assumes students have basic

technology skills because they are Digital Natives.

• Teacher observations revealed that students lack basic functionality skills to efficiently generate digital products.

• Teachers and leadership have recognized the need for an explicit technology articulation plan to address the needs of the students.

Recipes for Success• Elementary team has built a strong foundation

for the middle and high school levels to from which to take off.

Getting on Board• The lab is an extension of the classroom.

• Instructional leaders will actively support teachers to ensure effective digital instruction in the classroom and computer labs.

• Teachers will actively engage in student learning and incorporate Digital Passport-21st Century Skills within their content area through whole group, small group, and individual differentiated instruction.

• Every student will have access to the computer lab a minimum of 6-8 times per month.

ELA and Social Studies Expectations• All 6th-8th grade students will:– Receive exposure to ELA Digital Passport

skills #1-5 prior to online practice assessments

– Complete two ELA practice assessments prior to March 31st

• All 6th-8th grade teachers will:– Incorporate Digital Passport skills during

instruction in the classroom and computer lab.– Evaluate ELA Digital Passport skills #1-5 through

the completion of two ELA practice assessments prior to annual online assessments.

Math and Science Expectations• All 6th-8th grade students will:– Complete grade level appropriate Math/Science

practice Gizmo activities prior to March 31st

– Following completion of Gizmos, receive additional exposure to Math/Science Digital Passport skills

• All 6th-8th grade teachers will:– Incorporate Digital Passport skills during instruction

in the classroom and computer lab.– Evaluate Math and Science Digital Passport skills

through the completion of Math/Science practice Gizmo activities prior to annual online assessments.
