Born in Tonse, Karnataka as the son on Tonse Upendra Pai

Graduated in commerce from Sydenham college of

Commerce and Economics

Appointed as Chairman of Life Insurance Corporation, by

Government of India

1972Elected to Rajya Sabha and was appointed as Union

Minister for Railways. He was conferred with Padma

Bhushan by Government of India

1973 Was awarded D. Litt by the Government of Karnataka

1980 Established T.A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal
