Introduction of Discrimination

Discrimination means treating some people differently from

others.

It isn't always unlawful - after all, people are paid different

wages depending on their status and skills.

However, there are certain reasons for which your employer

can't discriminate against you by law.

Racial Discrimination!

What is Race Discrimination..???

Racial (race) discrimination is when a person is treated less favourably than another person in a similar situation because of their race, colour, descent, national or ethnic origin or immigrant status.

For example:- It would be discrimination if a real

estate agent refuses to rent a house to a person because

they are of a particular racial background or skin colour.

What Is Direct Discrimination?

Direct discrimination is when you're treated differently and worse than someone else for certain reasons.

The Equality Act says you've been treated less favorably . Direct discrimination can be because of: age , skin colour…

What Is Indirect Discrimination?

Indirect discrimination is when there's a practice, policy or rule which applies to everyone in the same way, but it has a worse effect on some people than others.

The Equality Act says it puts you at a particular disadvantage.

What We Mean But Appearance Discrimination?

Physical features discrimination

It is discriminate against anyone in the workplace because of their physical appearance,

For example, height, weight, body shape, disfigurement, skin condition, scar or birthmark.

!Personal Appearance!

Discrimination Based On Caste

What Is A “CASTE”

Social and economic divides still exist across India

"Caste" is the term used to describe the complex system

of social divisions that pervades life in India.

Caste is an ancient hereditary system that developed

alongside and became intertwined with Hinduism.

Here Is An Example!

You are Muslim and you wear traditional clothing.

You call about an apartment and it is available. When you show up to look at it, the landlord says

it is rented,

but

ad continues to run in the newspaper.

“For Rent”

It is illegal to deny someone an apartment because of their religion — or for any other prohibited

ground.

What Happened In The Example!

1. The Landlord Denied You…

2. On The Base of Your Caste…Your Religion

3. Which Is illegal as Every Single Person Has The Right To Claim (In this Case the house)

And No One Can Judge You From Your Clothing Or Your Caste!

Well Still There Are Some Exception Where The Landlord Can Say No!

The One Who Has A Criminal Record May Not Be Allowed.

But There Are Some Acts Which Are Been Incorporated For Betterment of Nation

The Equal Opportunity Act 2010 sets out 18 personal characteristics that make discrimination in

employment against the law.

Employees are protected from discrimination at all stages of employment, including:

recruitment, including how positions are advertised and how interviews are conducted

being offered unfair terms and conditions of employment
