Project Overview

We made a device that will strain Easy Mac, or any other large grain material out of water. The device uses two types of energy: gravitational and kinetic, as well as the principles of the conservation of momentum to perform the task.

Items Used

Item Cost

Race Track 10

Solo Cups 2

Easy Mac 1

Tennis Ball 2

Funnel 3

Strainer 2

Total Estimated Cost 20

Step 1

In step one the device transfers all the initial gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy as the tennis ball rolls down the track.

Step 2

In step two the tennis ball hits the first domino, which causes the domino effect. The initial kinetic energy the tennis ball had is transferred to the first domino through conservation of momentum.

Step 3

In step three the last domino hits the car, transferring its momentum to the car, which already has gravitational potential energy.

Step 4

In step four the car jumps off the ramp and collides with the cup, knocking it over and spilling the water in the funnel.

Step 5

The water is filtered through the funnel, the Easy Mac is filtered out, and the clean water travels to the cup at the other end of the tube.

Conclusion

This device simplifies the process of making Easy Mac, by using the basic principles of conservation of momentum and energy.

Our device is reliable and consistent and makes life easier.
