God’s gift of eternal life, and today — Divine
Mercy Sunday — Jesus gives us another gift — His
Divine Mercy. Try and visit Jesus in Merici
Chapel. Spend time, say the chaplet and thank
God for His merciful love.

St. Charles Borromeo Church April 12, 2015
This is Divine Mercy Sunday. Pope
Francis speaks often and eloquently about the
mercy of God. The Holy Father has declared a
Holy Year of Mercy to begin on Dec 8, 2015 (the
50th anniversary of the final session of the Second Vatican Council) that will continue until the Solemnity of Christ the King
on Nov 20, 2016. The theme is from St Paul to the Ephesians,
“God rich in mercy.” The Sunday Gospel readings next year are
from St Luke and the Gospel of Mercy: The Lost Sheep, The Lost
Coin, The Forgiving Father, etc. More on the Year of Mercy as
2015 continues.
You are invited to the Pancake Breakfast this Sunday,
April 12, following the 7:30, 9:00, and 10:30am Masses.
As always, it is a delicious meal at a good price, well-served by
our Parish Youth Group. It all happens in the Lower Parish Hall.
See you there! Speaking of good meals, let me also mention our
upcoming Italian Dinner, scheduled for Saturday, April 25 in the
Corrigan Gym. I “reviewed” the spectacular menu: lasagna,
chicken parmigiana, rigatoni, meatballs, salad, roll and butter.
There will be “two seatings:” 4:30 to 6:15pm or 6:45 to 8:00pm.
Choose the time most convenient for you. Advance tickets are
a must and can be purchased at the Parish Office. Carry-out
meals will also be available.
Life Nights resume for our high school students this
Sunday evening. Try to attend the 5:30pm Mass. Life Teen
Coordinator Lena Mekhael, Father Ryan, and Sister Denise Marie have lined up a great evening, beginning at 6:40pm in the
Parish Activities Center. See you there and bring a friend.
Second graders--preparing for First Communion--and
their parents will attend Jesus Day next Saturday in the Corrigan
Gym, Corner Meeting Room, and Library. This is a “retreat day”
that focuses on the Eucharist. Families make a banner, bake some
bread, hear a great story, and add their handprint to the cloth that
will cover the altar on their Big Day. Thank you to all who make
this such a memorable event!
Our Day School Principal, Mrs Updegrove, informs me
that we still have seats available in Pre-school, Kindergarten, and in Grades One to Six at St Charles School. Please contact the
School Office for additional information (440-886-5546).
Parish Council is our number one vehicle of good
communication and shared responsibility. There are twelve
members; four are elected each year to serve a three-year term.
Since 1990, Parish Council has introduced a variety of worthwhile
plans, projects, policies, and procedures. We are currently
seeking candidates for the 2015 to 2018 term. Council meets
monthly on the second Thursday at 7:45pm in the John Paul II
Room of the Parish Activities Center. Council members also serve
on one commission. Candidates must be at least eighteen years of age and regularly practicing their Catholic Faith. Please consult
the Parish Council Nomination Form in this bulletin. You may
nominate yourself or another. Please submit all nominations by
Sunday, April 19.
St Charles Finance Council will meet this Thursday,
April 16, at 7:45pm, in the Rectory Dining Room. Members, our
most recent financial data will be sent to you electronically, prior
to the meeting, for your review.

GUIDE BOOK & DIRECTORY
ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY
We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book &
Directory for the Parish. This book will be the Who, What,
Where, When, Why and How of our Congregation. The book
is being provided at no cost to our Church, including the
mailing to each family, and again is being subsidized by
local businesses that advertise in it. If you own or manage
a business and would like to find out about advertising in
our book, please call the Parish Office (440)884-3030.
Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that
92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book &
Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser. It "will pay" to
advertise in our new Guide Book & Directory.
