$309 went to Mercy Residential Services this past weekend. There will NOT be a Parish Sharing recipient this weekend due to the Diocesan Missions collection.

Next weekend's recipient of parish sharing will go to Rochester Area Right to Life (RARTL). This organization is educational and political; it is set up with various subgroups in order to adhere to government regulations (no tax deduction for political activity). RARTL has been around for over 40 years. It works to defend life in the areas of abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia. Educational efforts include a newsletter, brochures (some of which are at the back of church), display tables at health fairs, churches, etc., a website, an oratorical contest, and this October will host the New York State RTL convention. Information is available on stem cell research (oppose embryonic, support adult). The organization is underwritten by interested individuals and groups. Their office is in Greece on Ling Road. Four parishioners are on the board/work for RARTL.

We Welcome You to St. Charles Borromeo Parish

Thank you for joining us. We are glad you have chosen to worship at St. Charles this weekend. Are you interested in becoming a member of the parish? If you need more information or would like to register, please call Mary Eggleston at 663-3230 x107 or contact her by e-mail at [email protected].

LIGHTHOUSE CDS

Check out the Lighthouse Catholic Media

kiosks at the back of church for CDs, books,

booklets, and pamphlets. As we have just

passed Divine Mercy Sunday, check out the

materials related to that. One of the CDs is The Second

Greatest Story Ever Told. It is a talk by Fr. Michael

Gaitley, a priest of the Congregation of Marian Fathers of

the Immaculate Conception and the director of the

Association of Marian Helpers, a spiritual benefit society

with more than one million members. Fr. Gaitley talks

about Divine Mercy, the role of Blessed John Paul II in

Divine Mercy, and the crucial role that Marian

consecration can play in your life. This is definitely not a

dry speech!

Installment #27: From last week: Can we

return to the Liturgy and the works of Mercy?

Good idea.

Q. How can I prepare for the Masses of May?

A. May can be beautiful as we drive or walk to

Mass. Also, we may be coming for a special

celebration, like a First Communion, Baptism

or wedding. But there is no better way to

prepare for Mass than to read ahead of time

the scripture readings of the day. Our bulletin

gives us the readings for the weekend coming

up. And many of us have a missal with the

readings for every day.

Q. I am overwhelmed. Give me a little less to

chew on.

A. How about this: look at the readings for the

nine days between Ascension Thursday May

13 and Pentecost Sunday May 24. This is the

original novena, and it helps us imitate the

Apostles and Mary as they waited together for

the coming of the Holy Spirit. Ten minutes a

day will do it.

Q. What if I don't have a daily missal or

missalette?

A. Consider sitting or kneeling quietly for ten

minutes each day for the nine days. Too

much? Try three minutes a day. Give the Holy

Spirit a chance to talk to you. And share your

experiences with like-minded people. Bring a

car load of spirited people with you to Mass

next weekend which is Pentecost.

Remember to send me your thoughts and questions

by e-mail ([email protected]) or my mail to the

Parish Office to my attention.

Quilts on Display This Weekend!

This weekend, May 16 & 17, the Quilting Ministry

Group is displaying their quilts that they have made

this past year. The pattern this year was “Irish

Chain.” The group has donated the 25 quilts to the

FASHION SHOW WAS A

HUGE SUCCESS

- THANK YOU!

This year’s St. Charles Ladies Fashion Show &

Luncheon was a huge success. Everyone had a

wonderful time. Our profit was over $4,000 which

goes to help with the ministries of our Parish.

We want to thank all those who made it so successful

– our special guest Phyllis Contestable (aka Reverend

Mother), the models, Christopher & Banks and CJ

Banks, all who helped with the set-up, decorating and

take-down, the local businesses who supported the

show with advertisements and/or raffle prizes, those

who donated silent auction baskets and raffle prizes,

the Aquinas Institute students who helped, the Parish

staff for their support and help, the Fundraising

Committee for pulling it all together and of course,

all who attended.

Pictures from the 2015 Fashion Show can be found by

clicking the “St. Charles on Flickr” link on our Parish

website.

We look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s

Ladies Fashion Show.
