Analysis of prices trends

Since August 2012, prices in Lorient have been reporting a stable trend, at around 2,50 €/kg.

In the second week of March, Hake was sold in Lorient at 2,28 €/kg, a slight increase compared with the former week, but a strong decrease with respect to the same period in 2012

The long-term trend shows a decrease from an average > 2,50 €/kg to 2,28 €/kg.

Prices in neighbor markets

In Lorient, as well as in Les Sables d’Olonne, reported prices are lower than its Portuguese competitors in the same seaboard, but higher than in Norway and in the North Sea.

On average, prices reported in Lorient (FR) were:•lower than in Les Sables d’Olonne (FR);•higher than Hanstholm (DK).

Price of exported fresh hake (whole) to Spain in January 2013 was at its average level, having decreased by 14% with respect to the last price reported for 2012.
