Battlefield 10 in Fort OglethorpeBattlefield 10 in Fort Oglethorpe

Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp. This seems to have been a temporary building, set up for worship, and at which he judged disputes among the people. The people looked after him; they were very desirous to be at peace with Godbe at peace with God, and concerned to know what would come to passcome to pass. The cloudy pillar which had withdrawnwithdrawn from the camp when it was polluted with idolatry, now returnedreturned. If our hearts go forth toward God to meet Him, He will graciously come to meet us.

Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.

2

11 And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

3

MosesMoses and The Lord had an intimate relationship.

"Face to face" was not physical but spiritualspiritual.

In that day, no one elseno one else had such fellowship with God.

Every child of God can have such a relationship today, and every person who willwho will, can become a child of God.

12 And Moses said unto the Lord, See, Thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet Thou Yet Thou hast saidhast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in My sight. 13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in Thy sight, shew me now Thy Way, that I may know Thee, that I may find grace in Thy sight: and consider that this nation is Thy people.

5

Moses' sincere and intense intercessionintercession for the Israelite people in this situation

Is a picture or typetype of Christ's intercession for us.

6

Moses lovedMoses loved this stiff-necked peoplestiff-necked people, because they were God's chosen peopleGod's chosen people.

Not becauseNot because they were good; they weren't.

Not because they loved himloved him; they didn't.

Nor did wewe love Jesus, when HeHe died for us,

Shedding His Own BloodOwn Blood so that we could be saved.

7

1 John 4 19 We love Him, because He first loved us.

14 And He (God) said, My Presence shallMy Presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

8

Moses prayedprayed a prayer of intercession for the nation, and God had mercyGod had mercy.

As God heard Moses' prayer, even moreeven more,

He hears the prayer of His Own Son in our behalfour behalf.

Someone would saysay, "God changed His Mind."

God's Mind is always to have mercyhave mercy when people repent.

God said, "I'll take you home, and I'll be with you all the way."

Rest = (to dwell, stay, to have a place, … give comfort, etc.)

Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.

15 And he said unto Him, If Thy Presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. 16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and Thy people have found grace in Thy sight? is it not in that Thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and Thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

10

The only thing that separates God's people from the rest of the world is

HIS PRESENCE in usHIS PRESENCE in us.

17 And the Lord said unto Moses, I Will do this I Will do this thing also that thou hast spokenthing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in My sight, and I know thee by name.

11

"I know thee by name" -- means that God honored Moses for his steadfast stand with God.

Moses was notnot a man without faults,

But his loyaltyloyalty to God never wavered.

He always strived to do all things God's WayGod's Way.

18 And he said, I beseech Thee, shew me Thy gloryshew me Thy glory.

19 And He said, I will make all My Goodnessall My Goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the Name of the Lord before thee; and will be graciousgracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercymercy on whom I will shew mercy.

12

20 And He said, Thou canst not see My face: for there shall no man see Me, and live. 21 And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by Me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: 22 And it shall come to pass, while My glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with My hand while I pass by: 23 And I will take away Mine hand, and thou shalt see My back parts: but My face shall not be seen.

God shows man His GoodnessHis Goodness:

Grace and MercyGrace and Mercy. That's all we can standstand,

but it's all we needneed.

15

16

We can stand true to God in Power of

His Grace and the Strength of His Mercy.

God just wants us to be Hisbe His children with our whole heartswhole hearts.
