Cappadocia is a remarkable location which offers a numerous wonders to witness.

Like the natural geological formations called the “Fairy Chimneys,” there is open-air museum that consists of cave churches and monasteries.

It also has underground caves.

All of those early civilizations who took over the land used the underground chambers to store grain and shelter from invaders.

The cities were complete with wells, chimneys

for air circulation, and niches for oil lamps, stores, and water tanks.

They were built to withstand attack and could support large numbers of people and their domestic animals, for long periods of time. It is also where Christians practiced their forbidden religion.

The underground city of Kaymakli was built under the hill known as the Citadel of Kaymakli.

It has narrow and sloping passages and consists of 8 floors.

The first floor of the underground city is the stable and a church was on the second floor.

Belbası is a cave and a late Paleolithic / Mesolithic site located at Antalya.

It has coloured rock engravings on the walls of the cave, it contains imported presumably from eastern Taurus Mountains or from the north of the River Gediz, and early forms of pottery.

This cave is situated near the city of Marmaris in Turkey.

This cave is been used for worshiping since ancient time.

The recent excavations in the cave (2007) have proved that Mugla’s earliest human settlements were in and around Marmaris.

The cave has become a popular tourist spots since then.
