Social media fun times

Or… how can I help out Church World Service with social media??

Facebook

• Facebook = people you already know

• Post just a few times a day

(unless you’re crazy,

just sayin)

• Facebook helps you keep in touch and maintain relationships.

www.facebook.com/churchworldservice

Facebook is all about YOU. Tell YOUR story. The CWS story.

Twitter

• Twitter = people you want to know

• Can post as often as you want

• Twitter is a space for conversations and relationship-building!

Ok. How?

• Facebook

– Tell your friends/family what you are up to for CWS (What would THEY find interesting?)

– Give a shout-out to CWS when doing so

• You can create a live-link to the CWS Facebook Page by typing “@Church World Service” in your post

– Shoot a pic of CWS at work in the field, tag the CWS Facebook page in it!

• Bottom left-hand corner, hit “Tag this photo”, click on the picture, type in and select “Church World Service,” click “Done tagging.”

– Share content or articles from the CWS Facebook page

This is going to sound familiar…

• Twitter

–140 characters or less, be concise!

– Tweet snippets of your work with CWS, what it means for the people we are helping

–Do a shout-out to the @CWS_globalaccount

–RT posts from @CWS_global

–Put appropriate hash tags in your posts

• #hunger, #Indonesia, #poverty, #water, #hygiene, etc.

Create your own hash

tag

#CWSatwork

#CWS =

Chicago White Sox

Make a CWS event

an event

Live-tweet a CWS event or field visit

Nitty gritty

• If you’re talking about CWS, about our work, BE POSITIVE (not as obvious as you’d think)

• Check out the CWS Social Media Policy if you have any questions

• Ask me or Ilmi for help if you need to!

• If anyone has any questions about CWS social media, please refer them to socialmedia@churchworldservice.org

Now for something a little different…

Tell the JOY of our work, the stories of the lives we change!

Most of all…

be authentic
