GBSLEP area partners

The Business Development Programme will provide comprehensive business support to existing small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) area. The programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and runs from September 2012 until May 2015.

Financial assistance available:

A grant award between £10,000 and £15,000 is available representing 45% of eligible project costs.

To qualify for consideration, businesses must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Be an existing SME trading for six months or more

• Employ less than 250 people• Have a current business plan• Have an expansion plan in place• Have a viable project that qualifies

for the minimum grant of £10,000• Create new jobs/safeguard

existing jobs as a direct result of the project implementation

• Be based in, or locating to, the GBSLEP area

• Be in one of the eligible business sectors

Eligible revenue costs include:

• Up to three days of accredited business advisor support

• Removal costs• Expansion of existing premises• Rent and rates associated with

moving to new premises• Installation (heating and lighting)• Installation of cabling as part of

relocation/expansion• Signage• Marketing and branding

The grant is equivalent to 45% of eligible costs subject to satisfying criteria and approval by an awarding panel. There will also be an administration fee of 1.5% of the project costs, which will be deducted from the first grant payment.

Partner support available:

Support provided by the GBSLEP partners will include:

• Knowledge of scheme criteria• Advice on application process• Access to additional support• Referral and signposting to other

support

Project partners:

Birmingham City Council will manage and deliver the programme with the GBSLEP partners, which consist of Birmingham City Council, Cannock Chase District Council, Tamworth Borough Council, Lichfield District Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, East Staffordshire Borough Council, North Worcestershire Economic Development (representing Wyre Forest District Council, Redditch Borough Council and Bromsgrove District Council) and Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Group.
