INDIA - GERMANY : ENERGY COMPARISON

GERMANY – INDIA CONSUMPTION

GERMANY – ENERGY MANAGEMENT PLAN

GERMANY – REDUCTION IN ENERGY CONSUMPTION

Note : Easy to plan for reducing Demand !

GDP – ENERGY RELATIONSHIP

Note : Germany is already a Lean Energy Economy !

GERMANY – 2050 PLAN !

Note : Operation may be successful ! What about the Patient(Economy) ?

GERMANY – HOUSE HOLD SAVING IS KEY !

Note : 1. Can anyone ask Indian House hold to reduce energy consumption ? 2. We hardly consume 1 / 10 th of Germans !

GERMANY – STILL THERE IS GAP !

GERMANY – GAP TO BE FILLED WITH GAS !

GERMANY – RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATION

INDIA – RENEWABLE ENERGY CAPACITY

Note : It is Installed capacity ( MW ), not Units ( KWHr) generated !

GERMANY – SOLAR PEAK & GRID PEAK MATCH

INDIA – SOLAR PEAK & GRID PEAK DO NOT MATCH !

GLOBAL WIND CAPACITY ADDITION / YEAR

GERMANY – WIND CAPACITY

Note : 1. Germany has about 10% of the World Installed Capacity of Wind.

INDIA – WIND CAPACITY

Note : 1. India also has about 10% of World Installed Capacity of Wind. 2. Out of this, Tamil Nadu has 40 %. Still we have Power problem. Why ? 3. It is simple. These Wind Mills work for just 3 to 4 months and that too at 50% capacity ! Over all Plant Load Factor is just 18 % compared to 70-80 % for Coal / Nuclear plants. 4. If Tamil Nadu has invested the Rs.51,000 cr spent on Wind Mills in the past 10 years in Coal / Nuclear, we could have installed 6000 MW of Coal / Nuclear and we would not be having power cut at all !

GERMANY – ENERGY MANAGEMENT 2020

Note : 1. Coal / Nuclear / Gas Power Plants will be kept idle when Wind blows and Sun shines ! 2. Germany hopes to do this and still maintain its economy going without affecting the standard of living of its people ! 3. Can India do the same and improve the Standard of living of its people ? For India, even the benefit of Solar Peak matching with Grid Peak Demand is not available !

GERMANY – CUMULATIVE ENERGY SUBSIDY

Note : It is the cumulative from 1972 to 2012. Please note, Renewable subsidy has just started !

EU - RENEWABLES

Note : Please note, this Chart includes ALL Hydel under Renewables. India include only small Hydel power plants under Renewable capacity.

Note : Still are there anyone to argue that “Greens” are producing power at par with France ?

GERMANY – RENEABLE SUBSIDIES

Note : 1. Germany is paying a Subsidy of Rs.2.10 / Unit for Renewables. 2. India pays subsidy of Rs.5.00 to 10 per Unit of Solar Power ! 3. Kudankulam unit cost itself is just Rs.3.50 only even with interest added for the delay caused by local agitations !

GERMANY – NUCLEAR CLOSE OUT

Note : 1. The close out is not now ! It is far away ! In between many Governments will come and go. 2. In the past 10 years, Germany has changed its Nuclear Policy 3 times !

NO EFFECT ON CLIMATE – SURE ?!

THANK YOU
