Song Qingling,second wife of the Chinese revolutionary leader Sun zhongshan. She became an influential Chinese political figure after her husband's death. In 1981 she was named honorary Chairman of the People's Republic. she busied herself with various welfare activities, ranging from heading the Women's Federation to a number of committees involving (orphaned) children.
