The "vision"

From Fing's "Villes 2.0" (Cities 2.0) programme

Multiply the number of urban environmental sensors by 1,000

Promote people's participation in building sustainable cities

Encourage other sensor networksto share their data

Facilitate the emergence ofnew knowledge, new services, more informed decisions, new discussions…

The initial experimentation

The watch measuresOzone (O3), Noiseevery few seconds. It carries a GPS anda Bluetooth chip.

The phone displaysthe information in agraphic way (the "Eye").It transmits the datato the CityPulse platform.

The platform displaysthe data in several ways.

It also makes theraw data available.

From individual measurement…

Next Steps

CityPulse: Scale the Platformto agregate , process, andmake available heterogeneousenvironmental datafor Research, Decision-making,Public discussion andService innovation

Green Watch V3: Test andvalidate mobile, wearable,low-consumption, low-maintenanceair quality/noise sensors.Integrate into various objects andtest their desirability/convenience.

Issues

Technical Low-energy, low-maintenance, reasonable quality environmental sensors Managing large numbers of heterogeneous data (different parameters,

contexts, biases, rules…) Social

Motivating citizen participation in distributed measurement Individualized feedback/service to the users Vs. Privacy Data intelligibility and usability Co-opetition between decentralized data production and access /

official environmental management processes and devices Economic

Platform business model Open data re-use and service creation platform
