My Notes

MONDAY Luke 28-15 A Christmas CarolREFLECTION I started listening to Christmas music this week I couldnrsquot waitmdashyet

Advent is about waiting and anticipating The angels in the scripture sang ldquothe rst

Christmas carolrdquo saying Glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth peace

among those whom he favorsrdquo What will your response be to Christrsquos presence with

us this season

PRAYER May I sing to the Lord a new song Even now may songs of praise be hums in

my heart as I anticipate your coming again to the world Glory to you God in Christ

TUESDAY Luke 28-15 Overwhelming presenceREFLECTION The shepherds stood in the place of ldquowowrdquo and ldquowhoardquo Amazed and

afraid When we are caught up in between the wow and whoa remember the words

of the angel who says ldquoDo not be afraid Irsquove got good newsrdquo

PRAYER God thank you for sending me the good news of Christ

WEDNESDAY Luke 28-15 Go nowREFLECTION There was light singing fear amazement and good news From there

the shepherds said ldquoLet us go to seehelliprdquo With haste scripture says they went to see

Jesus

SENDING FORTH Go with haste into the world into your work into your family and

share the good news

THURSDAY Isaiah 61 Jesus sets us freeREFLECTION The Isaiah passage is one on which Liberation theologians like Gustavo

Guitierrez center their work It is the belief that we are called to be in solidarity

with the poor the prisoner blind and oppressed With whom do you stand in

solidarity

AFFIRM I see my liberty intricately connected to the freedom of others

FRIDAY Isaiah 61 Jesus sets you freeREFLECTION Consider the ways you are poor in spirit in health or in nances

What about being a prisoner In what ways do you feel behind bars or trapped

Are you blind to certain things yourself or others And then where do you feel

boundmdashas if you have little room to move

PRAYER Thank you for coming to set me free The things I identied in my reection

do not have to be my reality They can be my past And I can live in my future free

SATURDAY Luke 416-19 Jesus fullls the Scripture

REFLECTION Jesus reads the prophetrsquos words from Isaiah 61 as the Incarnation

word fullled

PRAYER In Jesus God keeps Godrsquos promises Thank you Lord
