Harvests at the various seasons …

The autumn In the autumn, we pick

up mushrooms in the forest to eat with an omelet, of chestnut that is grilled, walnuts, hazelnut, and quinces. We harvest the grapes to make wine and fruit juice.

We hunt game: hare, woodcock, partridge, pheasant, wild boar and roe deer. Of the supplies of vegetable and fruit for the winter: apples, potatoes and marrows...

The winter In winter, to face the

cold, we eat dried vegetables (lentils, peas, beans), soup of vegetables (potatoes, leeks, turnips, pumpkins), black pudding but

also the cheese fondues, the raclettes, the sauerkrauts and the games.

The spring In the spring, we find on the market

of radishes, artichokes, asparagus and peas.

We plant on the garden of the seeds that we harvest at the beginning of the summer.

The summer

In summer, we cook BBQ with merguez, sausages, chicken or prawn skewers, mackerel and even cheese and bananas.

We eat salads and garden vegetables: tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots... We also eat “ratatouille”, sorbets and smoothies made with seasonal fruits: apricots, pears, cherries, peaches. We prepare the jams for the winter.

In early September, we went to

pick up potatoes that Mr.

Boutet CM2 class

students had planted

in the spring.

Crops of sweet potatoes in Champlong

On the leaves of some potato seedling, we have found the Colorado beetles, a small enemy insect of the potato. Some have taken in their hands.

The adults of the A.V.A.L association explained that to pick up the potatoes the leaves must be faded.

They took away the leaves and dug the ground with a spade and sweet potatoes was filed in buckets.

been replanted in the field of potatoes by the

There was even a white marrow called

“pâtisson”.

Then the adults of the association have shown a pumpkin that it had planted in pots in spring in class and who have

Finally, the adults of the association showed us purple potato, the “vitelotte” used in cooking to decorate plates. You can also eat in chips.

Two large bags of potatoes has collected. Back in the classroom, it is shared our crop. Each left with a small bag of potatoes and a “vitelotte”. Some have eaten them in French fries, other salad, sliced potatoes baked with milk or mashed potatoes.

They were too good!

The market of squirrels

For the first time in Villerest will take place on 5 and 6 November 2011 the market of the squirrel.

This market has to propose seasons products: potatoes, pumpkins, walnuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts, potatoes but also honey, jams and fruit juices. It will enable us to make provisions for the winter as do the squirrels.
