ie Cremer Craze:
Floyd’s What’s What’s happening? Well, we don’t know whether to believe it, but the other day someone said that the Russians’ top priority project of the moment is to
invent a Floyd Cramer.
A worthy undertaking, to be sure. And we can easily understand their
thinking this time. They hope to pry their kids away from the shortwave
receivers that pick up disc jockey programs playing Floyd Cramer records
on the other side of the Iron Curtain.
However, as his fans everywhere know, there is only one Floyd Cramer and even a “reasonable facsimile” is impossible to design. Floyd has a remark-
able originality, a style and artistry that fascinate his listeners.
In HERE’s WHAT’S HAPPENING! Floyd turns his keyboard’s attention to a collection of top tunes, ranging from the lilting movie theme Born Free to
the Beach Boys’ real mover, Good Vibrations. And he hasn’t neglected giving the Cramer interpretation to the hits of other such fabulous folk as the
Sandpipers, Gary Lewis, the Lovin’ Spoonful and Petula Clark.
Make a copy of Cramer? A facsimile of Floyd? The machine hasn’t been
invented that can duplicate the flawless creativity of the Genuine, Original
Mr. Floyd Cramer.
