Honeysuckle Control using Foam Herbicide: Three Steps to Success

By: John Lampe

January 30, 2014

Late summer or fall is a good time to control invasive honeysuckle with herbicide.

Before starting, make sure you have properly identified your target as invasive honeysuckle.

There are native honeysuckle plants in many regions of North America. Don’t kill them!

.

Glyphosate herbicide (trade name: Roundup®) works well on honeysuckle.

Read the herbicide label before starting.

Three Steps:

2 to 5 in. from ground

Step 1: Cut all branches of the bush as shown.

Step 2: Apply foam herbicide soon after cutting – within 5 to 10 minutes.

Step 3: Apply herbicide to every stump face.

If even one stem is not treated, the plant can survive.

That’s It!
