Hope for the over 40’s
Maybe you can relate to some of my story if not all of it.
I started as a trainee estimator in a manufacturing firm. I loved it and worked hard and was promoted
regularly until I was Managing Director.
Fairly soon after that promotion I had to make some people redundant and one guy didn’t care for the
uncertainty and committed suicide, when the police visited the premises they found a note blaming me. The police interviewed his colleagues, superiors and
the Personnel Director, but didn’t interview me.
I don’t know how you would take that, but I took it badly and allowed that incident to have a major impact on my life. I didn’t really want to make
decisions and over time the stress caused me to have some fairly major illnesses. Three major plus
surgeries within 18 months.
The business went bankrupt and I got even more stressed. I didn’t know what I did want but I knew what I didn’t, more of the same. I
joined a MLM company, but I wasn’t in the right place and it cost me lots. Then I had some (5) heart attacks so couldn’t work.
My life was in a mess.
However through persistence I was starting to get things in order when the credit crunch happened.
Suddenly I had no money. And went personally bankrupt, which was too much for my wife of 23
years who asked for a divorce.
So there I was approaching 50,well 49 and 11 months Hope for the over 40's with no real income,
no home, no wife and not sure of what to do.
This was a very bleak time for me.
Yet within 28 months of being declared personally bankrupt I was able to fly out to the Philippines and on finding a 3 bed villa on a 3 mile white sand beach decide to stay there. That holiday lasted 14 months.
Cool.
Made possible thanks to the power of residual income and the leverage that network
marketing provides.
Now I’m not one of those geniuses who achieved a 5 figure income in 5 months. But what I have achieved in 28 months is more than most people achieve, and certainly me in 23 years of a traditional career. A walk away
residual income that will pay you while sitting on a tropical beach.
And while in the Philippines I found that grey hair is a sign of wisdom, loyalty and stability all of which are rated highly
in the Philippines, and in many other cultures too.
So this post is about giving hope to those who have reached an age
where in ‘traditional’ employment they’re not as wanted as they were.
I was going to make this post Hope for the over 50‘s but it occurred to me that sometimes those in their
40's might want something more or different to what they currently have. And to those wonderful
people who dream of a brighter future and who are prepared to work for that
Over the coming posts I will share tools and techniques, both online and off line to help you
make your dreams come true.
