Use of technology is integral part of our life. Living in an era of globalisation, we need to understand the changing trend across the world. Technology has become fundamental need for human society. In fact, technology is the best companion of today’s world. We open our eyes by searching mobile somewhere on the bed. No one thinks it as a bad habit. The more we stress on innovative learning, the more we become a global contender. There was time when textbook, teacher and education institutions were main source of learning. Nowadays, we quench the thirst of knowledge with technological support. Evolvement of technology has changed the beliefs and values of teachers, administrators, parents and other educational stakeholders.

Effective learning in the classroom purely depends on the digital skills of educator and students. Successful integration of technology in the classroom depends on several factors. Could we consider these factors for better results? Let us consider altogether:-

Which technology should be used in the classroom? Why does a teacher integrate technology in the

classroom? How does a teacher integrate technology with actual

curriculum? How does integration of technology fulfil the need of the

learners? Do we integrate technology while preparing lesson plan?

5

Do we have clear teaching and learning objective for integrating technology?

Do we have proper plan for integrating technology i.e. prepared questions, time, evaluation tools and other necessary precise guidelines?

Do we have prepared relevant worksheet, question paper and Key notes in advance?

Do we have decided outcome of teaching topic and do we have plan to share with student?

Have we evaluated our process at the end of the class?

Students explore the depth of information technology more curiously, more enthusiastically and more passionately. It may be possible that they know two more different authentic websites or different good software. They may have amazing ideas to lead the lesson in a different and unique way.

Real Story based on classroom observation:-

Teacher 1It was remedial period no 8 of grade 9. Social teacher could not plan something special for this class. She asked students to open digital board. She instructed student to type (A) related to a lesson (X). Student open YouTube Channel and typed according to her teacher’s instruction. She finally clicked on the 1 st video visible on search list. Students and teacher watched the video. Period was over teacher. Teacher left the class. Teacher 2It was intermediate level classroom. Mathematics teacher was teaching Algebra. He opened Google search and typed something related to Algebra. He has chosen 2nd link of search result. After discussing materials found on particular link, he started explaining. After sometimes a student reminded him that this is not related to his today’s topic. Teacher told them not to worry; he will discuss other materials in next class.

Real Story based on classroom observation:-

Teacher 3It was grade 3rd classroom. Teacher was teaching a prose lesson. She has completed explanation of text, word meaning and questions based on exercise. She has still 15 minutes remained in particular period. Students started doing nasty things in the classroom. Unexpectedly, teacher opened Digital System and played a story for the students to watch. Teacher 4 Principal inquired the Science teacher regarding using technology to maximize learning in the classroom. Teacher informed him that she taught every topic very well. She could not find time and also could not feel the need to integrate technology for teaching lesson, since she is very hardworking teacher so and so forth.

What do you think?

"We are at the ground floor of a new world full of imagination, creativity, innovation and digital wisdom. We are going to have to create the education of the future because it doesn't exist anywhere today."

What do you think?

The context in which technology is used and how it is used are crucial factors in how well it may support learners.

Does an English Language Teacher/Language Teacher think so? Could we do this for maximize learning in the class?

For younger learners effective classroom strategies have traditionally involved use of songs, rhymes and traditional stories with repeated language structures. The internet can be a rich source of authentic oral models via recorded songs, talking electronic books, podcasts and video clips that help learners with pronunciation as well as acquisition and reinforcement of new vocabulary. These tools can also help to support teachers who don’t feel as confident with their own language skills.
