Hopelessness

“Discontent is pain. Pain is a teacher… Once

acknowledged and accepted, pain loses its early advantage and its

powerful edge. Instead of being possessed by it, we can possess it. In place of investing energy to escape from the briars, we can use our energy where we are in our patches of pain to work

through them patiently.”- Peter Steinke

Posture of Trust

Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time

he said, “My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.” So now I am

glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of

Christ may work through me. Since I know it is all for Christ’s good, I am quite content with my

weaknesses and with insults, hardships, persecutions, and

calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (NLT)

“The Lord is My Shepherd, I shall not want” (Ps 23:1)

When you know the Good Shepherd, you shall never

lack!

He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother

sheep with their young.Isaiah 40:11 (NLT)

Where God guides, He provides.

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so

that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every

good work.2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)

Lord, forgive me.I don’t trust you, as you invite me to.I don’t fully rely on your goodness.I find it hard to understand how your power can be made strong in my weakness.Forgive us for our selfishness that thinks first about ourselves and our needs and wants, before the needs and wants of anyone else. As we confess silently, hear our heartfelt prayer, and transform us from the inside out.

Silent pause for personal reflection …
