1º Bachiller B
INTRODUCTION
The IES La Mola is in Novelda. The institute has three
Buildings, A, B and C, gym and playground. Buildings B and
C, the parking and the caretaker's house were built later.
BUILDING A
It is the oldest and it was built in 1967. During this year the
school was part of the “Asunción” institute in Elche. Later, in
1968 it was part of the “Azorín” institute in Elda.
In 1974 the institute became an independent centre
called National Institute of Bachillerato.
It was repaired during the 73-74 course. This year the classes
took place in the Modernist House Museum of the town. The
library was inaugurated at the end of this course.
BUILDING B
It was built in 1979. It has two entrances, both with ground
floor and first floor.
It houses classrooms and laboratories for Science , Physics and
Chemistry.
BUILDING CIt was built in the 95-96 course, when it was completely renovated the
rest of the centre. It has ground floor and first floor.
On the ground floor there is the photocopies room, the so called “Aula
Magna”, “Multi-purpose room”, Technology and Arts classrooms and
the Technology, Arts, English and Mathematics departments.
On the first floor there are two Computer classrooms, the Latin
department, two Music classrooms, another Drawing class and the
Diversification classroom.
Building C also has a lift.

It was built during the 95-96 course like Building C.
The Changing Rooms and other sports facilities were already there
at that time.
GREEN AREASThese spaces are used for educational purposes. Here, the
students can do Physical Education, Audiovisual
Communication, Environmental Education, Gardening
Practices of PCPI and other extracurricular activities.
WHAT CAN YOU STUDY?
In the institute you can study the Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) .
When you finish the four years in ESO you can continue studying here in
Bachiller.
In Bachiller you can choose between Social Sciences, Humanities and
Sciences.
When you finish the two years in Bachiller you can do an exam to go to
University.
If you don’t want to study Bachiller, when you finish the ESO, you can
study Vocational Training courses on Bussiness or Marketing.
NOWADAYSAn 86% of the students are from Novelda and the other 14%
from La Romana.
La Mola receives students from three of the five local public schools of
Novelda (Sánchez Albornoz, Jesús Navarro and Gómez Navarro) and
students from La Romana (Sagrados corazones).
People who attend Vocational studies come from other schools or cities but
they make up a very small percentage.
The institute has students from seventeen different nationalities.
Since the 04-05 course the institute shares its facilities with the Elche’s (now
Elda’s) Official School of Languages (Initial and intermediate level).

CANTEENThe institute has a canteen where students and teachers can buy food
at break time.
In the canteen there are tables to have breakfast there.
LIBRARY
In their free time the students can go to the library to study,
borrow books or do homework.
