1. General information
After unpacking the housings (battery and electronics housings) kindly check for complete delivery and whether there are any visible external damages. Furthermore, inform the forwarding agents at once about visible damages, as we do not accept complaints that reach us at a later time. Before starting the system take into consideration all references in the installation and maintainance manual! All guarantee claims cease in case of wrong installation or of any intervention on the products! Only original fuses are allowed to be used. The fuses on the outgoing side have are: Order no. 5 A - 080 005 Order no. 10 A - 080 006 In general original spare part must be used. Only printers of protection class II can be connected to the Centronics Interface of the control unit. A function test has to be initiated after each repair work on connected luminaires, in order to delete the failure messages displayed on the control module. (see 14.2.1)
2. Safety advice
The manual contains information for trained and qualified electricians. The system has to be operated within the design parameters and only in functional, undamaged condition. National safety standards and legal requirements have to be observed. Fuses in the system have to be shifted only when the central is in a "blocked" mode. (see 14.4.4) The system has to be disconnected from the battery first and next from mains supply prior to any work being carried out on the luminaires or other system components! (see 11)
3. Battery notes
The delivered batteries can be stored for max. 3 months without being charged! Prior to any test carried out the batteries must be charged for at least 24 hours. Old batteries have to be disposed as per national requirements.

8. Mounting of CPS system
The electronics and battery housings are to be set on top of each other at the installation site and they are to be connected to each other with the enclosed M8 screws. After mounting is complete, the system has to be fixed to the wall. It is necessary to leave a clearing between the housing and the wall for the sake of ventilation.
Three glands (with battery sets connected in parallel five) have to be mounted for battery cables and temperature measuring sensor (if delivered) between the electronics and the battery compartment. If the temperature measuring sensor is not included, the 3rd hole has to be covered with a blind plug (enclosed in the package).
9. Mounting of the batteries
Please check that the delivered batteries, pole connectors and battery cables are complete, and whether there are any mechanic damages. Remove the battery fuses F1 and F2 before connecting the batteries.
Put the batteries into place according to the below shown figure. Connect the pole connectors. Safety caps are to be put on the poles. More information regarding maintenance and care of the maintenance free batteries can be found on the enclosed battery instruction sheet.
The maintenance recommendations for batteries are an important part of the operation manual and have to be taken care of. Safety regulations regarding high dc-voltages must also be taken into consideration.
The fuses F1 and F2 must be inserted only after the installation of the whole CPS system is complete. (see 11)

12.9. CPS 220 / SV / ... with JOKER Technology
12.9.1. General Information
Each J-SU/SV change-over device can supply and monitor up to 12 luminaires in three different modes (maintained-, non-maintained- or switched maintained - all in one mode or mixed modes) on one circuit. These switching modes are active in mains supply. A mains failure at the main distribution board or at any monitored supply will automatically switch all connected luminaires to battery operation, regardless of their mains switching mode.
12.9.2. Exit and safety-luminaires, modules with JOKER technologie Each module and luminaire suitable for Joker Technology is fitted with a switch (DL/BL = Maintained / Non-maintained mode) to set the luminaire switching mode for this component.
Switching mode:
Maintained: The switch on the electronic ballast or the monitoring
module has to be set to the DL (M)-position.
Non-maintained: The switch on the electronic ballast or the monitoring module has to be set to the BL (NM)-position.
Switched Maintained: The switch on the electronic ballast or the monitoring module has to be set to the BL (NM)-position. The input LS/NS on the modules and electronic ballasts is used to switch this luminaire, along with the standard mains lighting ON or OFF.

12.10. Isolation supervision and tests The isolation supervision and test settings in the CPS 220 are integrated next to the control unit. When the system operates in mains power supply the battery circuit is supervised for isolation errors. At an isolation resistance <2,0 K /V the fault is shown on the display and a red LED "Failure" flashes to indicate this. Has the fault been cleared the system goes automatically back to "Normal Operation" and the red LED is turned off.
All connected circuits are included in the isolation supervision when the central is in battery operation, i.e. when a function test or battery duration test is carried out and in case of power supply interruption. If an isolation fault occurs, it will be shown in the control unit and logged. After the fault has been cleared this entry can be deleted only by carrying out a new function test. The isolation supervision can be tested by pressing the keys Test + or Test -. An isolation fault is shown on the control units display. The isolation error is set back when the key is released.

16. Further modules for CPS 220 systems
16.1. Continuous light circuit modules - DSM/L – DSM/U
DSM modules can be installed in order to switch mains luminaires and emergency luminaires together. DSM-U modules are to be installed in the local distribution boards, DSM-L modules are to be installed in luminaires that are already present. The connection of the DSM modules to the CPS 220 system has to be made as shown in the drawing below. When mains is present on terminals LS and NS, the connected emergency luminaires (terminals 0+/0-) are turned off. Actuating the switch contact turn all mains and emergency luminaires on. If the local mains sub.-distribution board fails, will also cause the connected emergency staircase luminaires to be turned on, in this case the DSM module has a phase monitor function. The circuits of the CPS system with DSM modules have to be programmed as maintained light, see paragraphs 12.8.1.1 / 12.8.2.1 / 12.8.3. If the CPS system switches over to emergency light operation, all connected emergency luminaires will be supplied from the batteries, no matter of the type of switching mode.
