Theoretical Framework

The Communicative Approach

English for Specific Purposes: English for Occupational Purposes

• Richards and Rodgers, 2001 explains that learners become engaged if they see the purpose of the learning process and if this process meets their needs and expectations.

• ESP is not a methodology or product. It is an approached based on the learner´s needs and a needs analysis shall be conducted for determining such needs (Hutchinson and Waters, 1987)
