IZMIR

A view of the flats from outside

Generally, there are 2 types of houses. At the city center, multistorey buildings are common. These buildings consist approximately nine or ten floors, and there are two flats in each floor. Out of the city center, detached and semi-detached houses are more common and they are formed as sites like 90-100 houses together.

Apartments are so close to each other that it is nearly impossible to see a space among them.

Usually, the apartments are around 80 and 130 square meters. The windows are formed by double isolated glass. Steel doors are commonly used in these flats. The floor is usually made from laminated parquet or marble. The buildings commonly have an elevator. The height of these flats are about two and a half meters.

Usually there are 3 rooms, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen and 1 lounge in each of these flats. These flats also have balconies. Usually air conditioners or natural gas systems are used to heat them. The rooms are close to each other in these flats, and they are set out linking to the hallway.

The second kind of houses are outside of the city. They  are generally two- storey detached duplex villas with garden .Usually they have 4 or 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. At these dublex at the first floor there are lounge and an opened kithchen ,a wide verandah and a toilette (some of them also have one bedroom at this floor). At the second floor there are bedrooms and bathrooms. Both floors are around 100 square meters. The windows are mostly pvc double insulating glass. It seems that the only difference conserning windows of city center ones and the suburbian ones is the colour of the frame: at the dublex it is mostly wooden-looking.
