Meet the Crew Jesse Brown (Assistant stage Manager) is excited to
be working backstage where no one can see her. She is grateful for the chance to expand her theatrical experi-ences by doing another show with Teen Actorsing-ers! When Jessie isn't stage managing, she is working towards her degree at the University of New Haven, as a Criminal Justice major, where most people there know her as Cookie.
Mike Colena (Stage Manager) Mike is proud to be working with this creative and talented production team, and amazing cast, to bring JCS to our stage. Mike has recently appeared on stage with Actorsingers as Dennis Dupree in Rock of Ages, and as Sir Galahad in Spamalot! Outside theater, Mike leads an R&D team, is father of 3, and enjoys cycling, beer, and naps. In that order.
Brian Mehlman (Assistant to Assistant Stage Manager, Props) Brian has enjoyed working with this extremely talented cast and crew. Brian is a lifetime member of Actorsingers. Favorite shows where Brian appeared onstage include: Jesus Christ Superstar, Anything Goes, & Follies. Favorite shows where Brian worked behind the scenes: 42nd Street & Chorus Line. Thanks to my family and friends that always come to support my shows.
Ken & Gretchen Gray (Sound) Ken spent years in a band playing guitar in seedy nightclubs all over New England that don't exist any more, so don't look for them. Gretchen spent a similar number of years work-ing in rock radio, the music she played would now be considered “oldies”. Musician, disc jockey, parents, never too old to rock and roll sound partners. This one goes to 11!

Director’s Notes (From: Angèlica Rosenthal) Jesus Christ Superstar has always been one of my favorite shows of all time. This show has a lot to offer, great music, a timeless story, and characters that are very well known. What drew me to the show was how this show truly had an open con-cept. This show’s message and problems are so relatable that they would translate to almost any setting. This got me thinking. If the problems in the show are so com-mon that they can be anywhere, then they will most likely always exist. There are many themes in this show that I thought was important. First and fore-most was political power and what it takes to stay in power. In many cases through-out history part of staying in power meant the oppression of another group of peo-ple. As we look at this closer, making examples of leaders is also a tactic used to achieve this control and oppression. This, of course, happens during the show and has happened throughout history. So in my mind, I thought what is to stop this from happening in the future? Would this ideal change? This is where my staging evolved. In our culture, today we seem to have a fad of “end of the world” TV shows and Movies. I think of The Walking Dead, Mad Max, and 10 Cloverfield Lane. The idea behind this popularity is that people are unhappy with the state of the world and the idea of rebuilding seems like a better fantasy to watch. This got me thinking. Would things change in a post-apocalyptic world? My conclusion was no. In a post-apocalyptic industrial setting, I thought, where would I want to be? Somewhere secure, a building that would have held up. That, on the other hand, would be a place that would be highly desired. Meaning that compromise would need to happen and society would start to rebuild. The other important thing that my fight director and I spoke a lot about was the idea of what weapons and what they would be in this world. Sure, people with power would still have found weap-ons, but guns would not be as useful in this setting. Bullets would be hard to find, and though they would likely still exist, they would not be as practical. So for the Apostles, we thought of weapons the average person make in a hurry to protect themselves. It was most important for me to show that society could be just like it
