Key goals of this

webinar*….

*And all in 60 minutes!

4

Goal #1

Describe the concept of

Memories of the

Future™ and explain

why they can be more

real than memories of

the past.

5

Goal #2

Help you articulate

your goal so clearly

that it inspires you and

others to do the work

necessary to make it

happen.

6

Goal #3

Share practical

strategies for creating

Memories of the Future

and for overcoming

Resistance that stands

in their way.

7

Goal #4

Help you cultivate an

unstoppable sense of

belief in your dreams

and in your ability to

make them real.

8

Goal #5

Inspire you to think big

and act with courage

and determination to

achieve your most

authentic goals and

dreams.

9

Part 1

Defining your

destination – and

your destiny

10

Core Action Value #1 is

Authenticity

If you know who

you are then you

will know what to

do.

11

Core Action Value #7 is Purpose

What is your

one Big Why?

Detlev von Platen, CEO of Porsche Cars North America

14

Two key lessons

15

#1. Know what you

want

16

#2. Be willing to ask –

and to ask audaciously!

*

* After all, the guy’s

already got lots of

Porsches – he’d

hardly miss just one.

17

He said…

18

19

“When I was young I

said I wanted to grow

up and be somebody…”

20

“Now I know I should

have been more

specific.”

21

#3. Make sure you are

asking for the right

thing (don’t chase what

you don’t really want

and don’t want what

you know you can’t

have).

22

Part 2

Creating

Memories of the

Future

23

“It’s a poor sort of

memory that only

works backward.”

- Lewis Carroll

24

You can remember the

future more clearly and

more accurately than

you can remember the

past.

28

The difference

between wishful

thinking and

positive thinking…

29

Wishful thinking is

hoping for something

and waiting for

someone else to make

it happen.

30

“If I won the lottery.”

31

Positive thinking is

expecting something

and working to make it

happen.

34

The Wal-Mart in Page

Arizona was a reality in

someone’s mind before

the first shovelful of dirt

was gauged out of the

earth.

35

On a metal desk in

Bentonville, Arkansas

there was a plan, a

schedule, a blueprint,

and a budget…

36

That new Super Wal-

Mart was a reality in

the mind of the person

sitting at that desk

long before the people

of Page saw it spring

out of the ground!

37

38

Wear your Dream next

to your heart

39

Five times every

morning and two things

every day.

A dream 20 years in the making

was realized yesterday

41

A Memory of the Future

creates healthy

cognitive dissonance

42

43

Imagination is the

power we are given to

visualize a future that

is somehow different

than the past.

44

But most of us abuse

this gift of imagination

in two ways…

45

Worry is imagining a

future that we do not

want to see come about

46

Fantasy is dreaming of

a future that we have

no intention of working

to create

47

48

Imagination is like any

other muscle – it gets

stronger when you use

it and atrophies when

you don’t

Anxiety is the mortal

foe of imagination

When you are in the

thrall of anxiety (looking

out through the doom

glasses) you don’t see

the world as it is, you see

it as you are.

Three bad things happen

when you in the thrall of

anxiety…

Bad Thing #1

Memory is distorted:

past successes seem

small and insignificant

while past failures seem

huge and certain to be

repeated.

Bad Thing #2

Perception is distorted:

the dangers facing you

are blown out of

proportion while you

underestimate the

resources you have.

Bad Thing #3

Vision is distorted: you

cannot see the

possibilities for a great

outcome because you are

so fixated on images of

doom.

The Performance-Anxiety Curve

56

The 6-As for

creating

Memories of the

Future

57

1. Aspire

You gotta want it –

without ambition we

would all still be

hunting and gathering.

58

2. Adumbrate

You start with a vague

image of your dream

and gradually evolve it

into detailed goals.

59

3. Articulate

You need to describe

your dream in a way

that others can see it.

60

4. Act

Action transforms fear

into fire; accumulation

of many small actions

yields big results.

61

5. Ask

The Aladdin Factor is

asking the right

question of the right

person

at the right time.

62

6. Adapt

Because, as von Moltke

said, no plan survives

contact with the

enemy.

63

Part 3

Setting and

Achieving Big

Goals

64

Five “power tools” that

having a Big Goal gives

you

65

A magnifying glass that

focuses your energy

66

A magnet that attracts

people and resources

67

A telescope that allows

you to “see” your ideal

future

68

A spark plug that

catalyzes action

69

A flywheel that

maintains your

momentum through the

inevitable obstacles

and detours

70

When you settle for

anemic dreams and

goals, you cheat

yourself – and you

cheat us by not giving

us your very best.

73

Part 4

Overcoming

inner obstacles

and outer

setbacks

The Pyramid of Self-Belief

81

Challenge self-limiting

assumptions, and

negative self-talk

82

Tuesday’s Promise

I will not allow low self-

esteem, self-limiting beliefs,

or the negativity of others to

prevent me from achieving

my authentic goals and

becoming the person I am

meant to be.

83

The Will to Fail

84

85

Wednesday’s Promise

I will do the things I’m afraid

to do but which I know

should be done. Sometimes

this will mean asking for help

to do that which I cannot do

by myself.

86

Part 5

Visualization and

Realization

87

Process visualization

is a verb

88

Confidence comes from

being able to see

yourself doing

something

89

Outcome

visualization is a

noun

90

Caveat

You really cannot

“begin with the end in

mind” – because “the

end” is just a mid-point

– one of many to come.

91

TB, SS, SN

92

Think Big

93

Start Small

94

Start Now

95

Stop procrastinating

96

Procrastination is

postponing today into

tomorrow so that you

end up always living

under the shadow of

yesterday.

97

98

The Power of the

Prototype

99

A simple daily exercise:

write your own

horoscope every day…

Why would you trust a total

stranger with something as

important as your horoscope?

101

Core Action Value #8 is Vision

Dream a big dream,

make it a memory of

the future, and

expect a miracle.

102

Every great

accomplishment was once

the “impossible dream” of

a dreamer who simply

refused to quit when

things got tough.

103

Expect a miracle: but

don’t give the universe

a deadline!
