2. SURFACE WATER QUALITY
Myuna Colliery has two Licenced Discharge Points (LDP) for water. The following parameters;
pH, Total Suspended Solids (TSS mg/L) and Oil and Grease (mg/L) are monitored at Licenced
Discharge Point LDP00A and LDP00B daily during discharge in accordance with the
requirements of Environmental Protection Licence (EPL) 366.
Table 3 shows a summary of the monitoring results which have concentration limits specified in
the EPL, while figures 1 to 3 are a graphical representation. There were no discharges from LDP
A during the report period.

3. WATER VOLUME
Water volume discharged off site is measured through licence discharge point B (LDP B).
EPL366 set a limit on the maximum volume of water to be discharged per day through LDP B.
The daily volume limit for LDP B is 13000 kL.
A summary of total water volume discharged is provided below.

DG – Dust Gauge
A graphical representation of depositional dust monitoring data is shown in Figure 5
Figure 5 Monthly Dust Deposition Gauge Results
Depositional dust monitoring data indicates that dust deposition results for September range
from 0.6 g/m2/month to 2.2 g/m2/month.
10
The Myuna Colliery Project Approval 10_0080 contains criteria for a maximum total deposited
dust annual average of 4 g/m2/month. The rolling annual averages for each of the dust gauges in
September 2015 are shown in table 6 and Figure 6 below. All rolling annual averages are below
the 4 g/m2/month criteria.
EPL 366 does not contain a limit condition for depositional dust.

4.2 High Volume Air Sampling (HVAS)
The Myuna Colliery Project Approval 10_0080 contains a criteria for PM10 (particulate matter
less than 10 micrometres) and TSP (Total Suspended Particulates). There were no exceedances
of the Project Approval limits. EPL366 does not contain limit conditions for PM 10 and TSP.
A summary of monitoring results for August and September 2015 is provided in Tables 7 & 8,

5. QUARTERLY MANGANESE MONITORING
In accordance with Special Condition 9, E1 Additional Monitoring of EPL366, Myuna Colliery
undertakes a quarterly manganese monitoring program in Wangi Bay. The locations of this
monitoring can be found in Plan MY10950 attached.
The quarterly monitoring was undertaken on the 4th September 2015. The results are
provided in table 9 and figure 9 below.

6. QUARTERLY NOISE MONITORING
Attended noise monitoring is undertaken quarterly in accordance with the Myuna Colliery
Project Approval. Noise monitoring is consistent with the OEH Industrial Noise Policy and
Australian Standard AS 1055 Acoustics, Description and Management of Environmental
Noise. The second quarter noise monitoring was conducted 29th – 30th June 2015.
The second quarter monitoring is summarised below.

Colliery is audible at all locations, except R2 - 2
Moani Street and R5 - 93 Donnelly Road where
it is barely audible. Passing traffic is very rare, a handful of cars
passing over the monitoring period.
Other noise sources include: - Insects

LAeq noise levels higher than the project EPL noise limits were measured at each of the
designated receivers during the daytime, evening and night-time periods, however it was
noted that extraneous noise sources, namely road traffic and insects, contributed
significantly to these noise levels.
Colliery noise was inaudible at all locations during the day and evening. The Colliery was
audible at six locations and barely audible at two locations during the night-time. LAeq levels
were largely controlled by extraneous noise sources such as passing traffic, whereas LA90
levels were controlled by insects or Colliery operations during the evening and night. Colliery
operations were subjectively observed to contribute little to the measured LAeq noise levels
during any period of the day. Definitive compliance with EPL noise limits was, however,
difficult to determine through direct measurement due to the influence of extraneous noise
events.
