June 2013 Updates:

Hahgoot and Alma enjoy “Story” exhibition

The girls enjoyed carrying their $2 kits around the exhibition.

First they examined the tiny worlds in the “Small worlds” room

In the “small worlds” room the girls got to use their kits:

they made little pipe-cleaners men and placed them on the staircase wall

mural, created by master of perspective Catherine O’Donnell.

In the “writer’s room” the girls looked at Lewis Carol’s “Alice in Wonderland” with magnifying glasses

they created some drawings for the Drawing Prize.

Alma enjoyed the exhibition’s many interactive aspects.

The girls made their Drawing Prize works and then

deposited them under the “piggy” artwork.

Alma was afraid of it so Hahgoot was the

mailperson...

Next we spent time in “The Quest Room”, watching Kate Mitchell’s quirky videos, where she recreates cartoon moments in real life. The girls kept busy making their own little diorama theatres.

The last room was the “Hero’s Adventure room”, where LEGO blocks compete with Hendrik

Gericke’s huge wall mural on the visitors’ attention.

You can also dress up, as you’ll see in a minute...

Between the LEGO, Star Wars and good art, this room is by far the most popular with any age

group or gender.

At last, after we spent nearly an hour and a half in the 4 tiny rooms of the exhibition, we stopped for lunch at the gallery’s beautiful cafe and garden. The girls enjoyed running on the lawn and balancing on ancient tree

roots – a fantastic day!

We spent some time in the “Noise” exhibition too. Alma HATED it, while Hahgoot LOVED it – she spent a lot of time making up detailed stories inspired by the artworks, changing lighting and odd music, while Alma

tried to run away terrified by the darkness and weird sounds...
