Dear Parents, Staff and Students,
Thank you to all families who attended our ‘Community
Welcome Evenings’. We trust you found the information we
shared to be useful. If you have any feedback or suggestions
for future information evenings please speak with Glenn or
Cynthia.
At this morning’s meeting PTA scheduled a
variety of exciting events for 2018. Dates
for these events will be made available on Skoolbag in the
coming days. Information about PTA events will be promoted
through our weekly newsletters and a new, Term PTA news-
letter. There was also discussion about how funds raised by
PTA can best support the needs of our students. Details will
be provided once ratified by School Council.
Today’s newsletter includes important information about
School Councils. Our 2018 School Council election process
commences on Monday 19th of February with a notice of
the election and call for nominations. The following timeline
will apply for this election:
Mon 19th Feb: Notice of election & call for nominations
Mon 26th Feb: Nominations close
Wed 28th Feb: List of candidates displayed
By Tuesday 6th March: Ballot papers distr ibuted by this
date.
Tuesday 13th March at 4pm: Ballot closes
Tuesday 13th March at 5pm Vote count
Wednesday 14th March: Declaration of ballot
Monday 19th March: First School Council Meeting to elect
office bearers.
Nomination forms can be collected from the school office. If
you would like more information please speak to Glenn or
Cynthia.
In teaching the skills of organisation we expect all students
to use a communication bag (Red or Blue ) to carry important
messages, take home readers and home learning activities to
and from school. Communication bags can be purchased from
the office for $10. There will be prizes for classes where all
students have a communication bag.
Punctuality is a valuable habit for children to learn. Students
arriving late miss out on important information or instruction
time at the beginning of the learning session. It also distracts
other students from their work and disrupts teachers. As we
strive to make the most of all learning times, please assist
class teachers by ensuring your children arrive at school on
time.
Please remember students should arrive at school from
8:40am and leave grounds after school by 3:30pm. Grounds
are supervised from 8:40 – 8:55am and from 3:15 – 3:30pm.
If you need to access the school earlier in the morning and/or
later in the afternoon than these times we do have an excellent
Before & After School program which is operated by Extend.
For further information about this program please visit their
website at www.extend.com.au or call on 1300366437.
Kismet Park has two adventure playground areas—a Prep to
2 playground and a Years 3-6 playground (with the spider).
The equipment in each playground has been designed as ap-
propriate to each age group. We ask that parents ensure their
children play on the appropriate equipment before and after
school.
For student safety reasons please ensure you always Drive
& Park Safely and Legally. Because of the nar row streets
surrounding our school parking can be a problem. Please do
not exacerbate this problem by careless or illegal practices. To
provide a safe environment for all of our students to arrive
and leave school safely please ensure that you:
Do not use the staff car park.
Do not double park anywhere.
Do not drop off in the oval car park if there are no parking
spaces.
Always ensure you and your children use pedestrian
crossings.
Ensure your children DON’T jump fences.
Have a great week! The Staff of Kismet Park
