What does KM mean (for PACC)?

• PACC – the first major climate change adaptation initiative in the Pacific islands region

• “Laying the foundation for a comprehensive approach to address adaptation over the medium-long term at the regional level” (original Project Document, 2010)

• “...establish PACC as primarily a Learning and Knowledge-sharing mechanism” (Mid-Term Review recommendations, 2012)

What does KM mean (for PACC)?

• “KM can be defined as the set of actions developed (gathering data, analysing processes, results and personal experiences, creating lessons learned, disseminating them, etc.) so that the knowledge of an individual or an institution reaches, in a timely manner, the largest number of people able to benefit from it”

• “KM and communication are complementary activities... Both contribute synergistically to disseminate knowledge and improve coordination, increasing the effectiveness and impact of projects. The integration of KM with communication activities allows a substantial reduction in costs and generates products that are consistent, more valuable and relevant for the different audiences, avoids duplication of efforts while enhancing the effectiveness of both” (From Adaptation Fund KM strategy)

What does KM mean (for PACC)?

• KM focus for PACC – ‘knowledge capture and sharing’

• Knowledge capture: information, analysis, synthesis, presentation... → communications products

• Knowledge sharing: routes, avenues, places, spaces, formats

• Goal: The knowledge generated by the PACC projects reaches all the people who are able to benefit from it
