OUR MISSION: FAST FACTS: Location: St. Petersburg,

FL (Pinellas County, 6th Judicial Circuit)

5administrative staff, 90 members, 25 active volunteers

2years of of operation, 1 year of 501(c)3 not-for-profit status

Associated with Help-A-Child/Suncoast Centers, Juvenile Welfare Board, St. Petersburg College

Build awareness and educate the community with regard to

existing child maltreatment. To provide support, monetarily and through volunteer hours, to neglected and abused children who are removed from an abusive situation.

Child Maltreatment and the Dependency System

FAST FACTS:

An estimated 794,000 children were victims of child abuse or neglect in 2007

496,000 children living in foster care during 2007 (60% of whom entered care due to abuse and/or neglect)

Impact of child abuse and neglect includes physical, psychological, behavioral, and societal consequences

1/3 of those maltreated will eventually victimize their own children
