Proposed Development at Dibden Bay

• In 2000 it was considered that Southampton’s port capacity needed expanding.

• The proposal was put forward to develop land on the south of the estuary to develop Dibden Bay.

• It had been reclaimed back from the sea in the 1950’s and 1960’s and was made up of sand, mud and gravel dredged from the estuary. It was reclaimed due to lack of space in the northern docks to make way for future development.
