Cindy Wise, Principal
Wise’s Words of the Week:
Greetings from Lake Street Elementary—home of the 4-Star Dazzling Dolphins Girls on the Run have begun…and they are letting me be a part of it! We have many girls this
year. We were able to have all of them participate because five of our teachers committed to
coach and be a part of this wonderful program. Go Girls!!
Lake Street has a team participating in the annual “shaving of the heads” for the St. Baldrick’s
Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. This year the event is at Crown Point High School
not the CP Fire Station. See page 4 of this week’s newsletter for more details.
Next week our third graders will be IREAD testing. The IREAD test for third graders is the test
you have been hearing about that the State requires each third grader to pass in order to move
on to fourth grade. The testing dates for IREAD are March 13th through 17th. If you go to this
website: http://www.doe.in.gov/assessment/iread-3 you will be able to see some sample ques-
tions. We will be testing Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Feeling very blessed and thankful because I became a grandma for the third time. This past
Tuesday my newest grandson, Jackson Thomas (JT), was born on the same day as his uncle
Tommy (my second son). Life has taken on new meaning now that I’m a grandma. Being a
mom, wife, daughter, sister, grandma and school principal makes my life complete!
Mrs. Cindy Wise, grateful principal

CAFETERIA NEWS:
FRUIT OF THE MONTH! Avocados Fun facts about avocados: They are a fruit,
not a vegetable! They have more potassium
than a banana! They will ripen more quickly
with an apple or banana around! They are one of a few high
protein fruits! You can swap them into baked goods recipes
for butter! You don’t have to eat them to reap their benefits
(avocados can play a key role in your healthy skin and hair
routine.) Encourage your child to try some this month!
DEPOSITS Please be sure to maintain a positive balance
on your student’s account! Deposits should be brought to the cafeteria in the morning. Cash or checks are accepted and should be in an envelope clearly marked with the student’s first AND last name. One check may be written for multiple stu-dents as long as all students are marked on the envelope with the breakdown of how money is to be distributed.
