Viper Kit ComponentsViper Collar

The Viper Collar is the heart of the systemwith its robust steel construction and corrosion protective coating. The collar hastwo anchor holes at each end to enable it to besecured plus easy to use locking toggles tolock the two halves of the collar in place.

There is a high pressure male hydrauliccoupler for lubricant supply plus a lowpressure male barb fitting for attaching theproduct drain hose. Each end has two steelscraper plates sized to suit the rope beinglubricated which pre-clean dirty wire ropesand also protects the seal from broken strandsby flattening loose wires.

Viper SealsThe Viper seals are made from apolyurethane material which is extremelydurable and wear resistant, while at the sametime being flexible to achieve excellent sealingunder pressure. The seals come in pairs to suiteach individual rope size and are identical socan be reversed if one end becomes worn.They are easily removed and changed fordifferent size ropes or cleaning and storageafter use.

Viper PumpThe Viper uses a high pressure 50:1 ratio airoperated grease pump with the standard kit sizedto suit a 20kg grease drum. The kit comes with adrum cover, carry handle, follower plate and 4mtof high pressure hydraulic hose with a femalequick connect hydraulic coupler on the end. Anon / off ball valve is also supplied to enableadjustment of the air flow to the pump.

An optional extra quick connect grease gunattachment with a spray valve can be supplied tospray lubricant directly onto the outside of thewire ropes, drums or sheaves. Pumps can also besupplied to suit 50kg and 180kg size drums.

LE452 AlmasolWire Rope LubricantLubrication Engineers recommends the use ofLE452 Almasol Wire Rope Lubricant for use withthe Viper lubricator. LE452 is an NLGI#00 gradefluid grease with exceptional penetrating ability. Itis tacky and water resistant and will penetratewire ropes to the core providing wear andcorrosion protection even in underseaapplications. LE452 is compatible with all wirerope core materials including wire line wire ropesand plastic coated pulleys.Using LE452 Almasol Wire Rope Lubricant will"double" your standard Viper warranty to twoyears.

Viper Wire Rope Lubrication - The SolutionThe manual lubrication of wire ropes via the drip, brush, spatula or rubberglove method has always been a difficult maintenance task. Typically messyasphaltic or "blackjack" type products are employed which have coatingabilities but very little lubrication or penetration properties.

The Viper Wire Rope Lubricator provides fast and effective lubrication ofwire ropes from 8mm to 62mm in diameter, at speeds up to 1000 metres perhour. It eliminates the slow and labour-intensive task of manual lubrication,at the same time achieving superior results by forcing quality lubricant underpressure right though to the wire rope core.

Viper - The SystemThe system consists of the Lubricator Collar - which houses the polyurethane seals tosuit the specific size rope. The assembly is clamped around the rope and anchored to afixed point, and then the rope is pulled through the collar. Lubricant is appliedutilizing a high pressure grease pump with lubricant forced between the strands tothe centre of the rope. Scraper plates at each end of the collar remove dirt and oldlubricant whilst smoothing broken wires to prevent seal damage.
