(Luther) “Whoever has begun to pray the Psalter earnestly and regularly, will soon take leave of those other, easy, little prayers of their own and say: ‘Ah,

there is not the juice, the strength, the passion, the fire which I find in the Psalter.’”

Psalms – Prayer Book of the Bible

Facing Our Fears and Insecurities

Psalm 27

Psalm 27:10 (PSU)

Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me

Psalm 27:10 (URI)

For my father and my mother have forsaken me,

but the LORD will take me in.

Secure :: Insecure

"Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on

the son of her womb?Even these may forget,

yet I will not forget you.

Isaiah 49:15

4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after:

that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,

to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.

8 You have said, "Seek my face. "My heart says to you,

"Your face, LORD, do I seek."

My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me.“ And my heart responds,

"LORD, I am coming."

(v. 8 NLT)

Psalm 105:3,4

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD

rejoice!

Seek the LORD and his strength;

seek his presence (his ‘face’) continually!

Embrace the Growth Process

We grow most when we’re stretched and tested.

Seek the ONE THING!

Security grows as we seek God’s presence continually.

We face our fears by seeking God’s face.

“One thing I seek…”

‘Fear’ God…. Fear nothing else!

The remarkable thing about fearing God is that when you fear God, you fear nothing else,

whereas if you do not fear God, you fear everything

else.

Oswald Chambers

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your

heart take courage;

wait for the LORD!
