Expect the extraordinary
Day 1- New Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be welcomed and driven to the The Lodhi
Hotel. Located on the edge of Lutyen's Delhi and ten minutes from
Connaught Place the hotel is easily accessible from the Indira Gandhi
International Airport, just 40 minutes away. The official Indian capital
since 1911, New Delhi stands on the Yamuna River on the western end
of the gangetic plain in Northern India. Continuously inhabited since
the 6th century, Old Delhi and New Delhi are no longer separate cities
but are now a seamless, vibrant entity with many layers of history and
culture.
Check-in at 14h00
Spend two nights at The Lodhi Hotel. Accommodation is in a Deluxe
Room with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on Bed & Breakfast Basis.
Day 2 - New Delhi
Today is your day to delve into the city with guided sightseeing tours of
Old and New Delhi including:
Chandni Chowk - Take a rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk which was once
the grandest of markets in India. Even though today Chandni Chowk
appears choked with congestion, it retains its historical character.
Jama Masjid - The Jama Masjid of Delhi, is the principal mosque of Old
Delhi in India. Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan,
builder of the Taj Mahal, and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is the
largest and best-known mosque in India. It lies at the origin of a very
busy central street of Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk.
Enjoy a walking tour through the labyrinth of winding lanes and alleys
of Old Delhi that narrate many stories through the overwhelming variety
of street food that they offer.
www.andBeyond.com Luxurious Rajasthan – 2019-20
Hang on tight on a Rickshaw ride rambling through the narrow, heaving
lanes of Old Delhi.
Relish a delicious lunch in a restaurant advised by your guide (on direct
payment basis).
After lunch your sightseeing will continue in New Delhi. This will
include:
Drive through Lutyen’s Delhi, driving past Rashtrapati Bhavan, India
Gate and the Old Secretariat.
Humayun’s Tomb: Humayun's tomb is a complex of buildings built as
the Mughal Emperor Humayun's tomb, commissioned by Humayun's wife
Hamida Banu Begum in 1562. It was the first garden-tomb on the Indian
subcontinent and is located in Nizamuddin East. It was also the first
structure to use red sandstone at such a scale. The complex was
declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
Qutub Minar: Gaze up at the Qutub Minar tower in Delhi, towering at
72.5m (237ft), the world's tallest brick minaret. Construction
commenced in 1193 under the orders of India's first Muslim ruler Qutab-
ud-din Aibak. The Qutab Minar is notable for being one of the earliest
and most prominent examples of Indo-Islamic architecture. It is listed
as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 3 – Delhi / Jodhpur / Jawai This morning after breakfast you will be met and driven to Delhi Airport for your flight to Jodhpur.
Upon arrival you will be met and driven to Sujan Jawai (3 hrs drive)
On arrival check in at Sujan Jawai. At the heart of pristine wilderness,
where leopards roam wild and free, the landscape is one of massive
granite formations, caves, kopjes, Anogeissus scrub and winding sand
riverbeds. Enjoy exclusive wildlife experiences with trackers and
drivers uninhibited by restrictions, as the surrounding countryside is not
part of a national park, but a vast sprawling wilderness of craggy hills
and grassland.
Afternoon game drive by shared Jeep.
www.andBeyond.com Luxurious Rajasthan – 2019-20
Spend two nights at Sujan Sujan Jawai. Accommodation is in Luxury
Tent with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on a Full-Board basis with
schedule game drives by exclusive jeep.
Day 4 – Sujan Jawai
Morning and afternoon game drives at Sujan Jawai in a shared Jeep.
Spot big cats as you manoeuvre over granite hills and scrubland.
Keep your binoculars on hand for stunning birdwatching over chilled
sundowners.
Day 5 – Jawai / Shahpura Bagh
After breakfast enjoy an adventurous drive to Shahpura Bagh (5hrs
drive).
The small estate of Shahpura, in Rajasthan, owes its origins to the long
struggle between the Sisodia Maharanas of Udaipur and the Mughal
power. Maharaj Sujan Singhji, grandson of Maharana Amrit Singhji,
entered the Mughals service under Shah Jahan. He rose to high rank and
distinguished himself in the Afghan campaigns. His services were
rewarded with the grant of the large jagir of Phulia, which he renamed
Shahpura, in honour of his patron. He died with five of his sons fighting
against Aurangzeb in 1658, leaving an infant grandson as his heir and
successor. However, his only surviving son, Daulat Singhji, succeeded
in wrestling control of the estates from his nephew in 1664.
Upon arrival check into Shahpura Bagh, a vast heritage estate (1630
AD). Situated midway between Jaipur and Udaipur (Rajasthan, India),
this was once the summer residence of the rulers of Shahpura and now
a fine heritage hotel.
www.andBeyond.com Luxurious Rajasthan – 2019-20
Enjoy sundowner followed by dinner at Dhikola Fort.
Spend the night at Shahpura Bagh. Accommodation is in a Suite Room
with ensuite facilities. Stay is on a Bed and Breakfast basis.
Day 6 – Shahpura Bagh / Ranthambore National Park
Morning visit to farms and villages and then drive to Ranthambore
National Park.
One of India’s most popular nature reserves, Ranthambore National
Park is known for its small population of friendly tigers, who do not
seem to shy away from the approach of humans. Tucked between the
rugged Aravalli and Vindhya hills, the reserve also boasts a spectacular
landscape filled with border-strewn highland plateaus, lakes and rivers.
A hunting ground for the local maharajas until 1970, the park has since
become a refuge for hundreds of species of birds, mammals and
reptiles.
Upon arrival check in to Sher Bagh, a pioneering tented camp of 12
luxurious tents nestling on the borders of the world–renowned
Ranthambore National Park. Inspired by the safari encampments of the
1920s, preferred by Princes and Grand Seigneurs of the time, each tent
is furnished with 19th century 'Campaign Style' furniture and has all the
comforts you could wish for on safari. Sher Bagh was among India’s first
luxury tented camps. It promotes sustainable tourism, is ecologically
friendly, provides high levels of service and a faultless Ranthambore
experience.
Spend two nights at Sher Bagh. Accommodation is in a Luxury Tent with
ensuite facilities. Yours stay is on Full-Board basis.
www.andBeyond.com Luxurious Rajasthan – 2019-20
Day 7 –Ranthambhore National Park
Morning and afternoon scheduled game drive by exclusive Jeep.
Enjoy breakfast after the morning drive and discuss your exciting
sightings with staff and fellow safari enthusiasts. Venture back into the
park in the afternoon and enjoy sundowners immersed in the bush.
Park drives in Ranthambore are in open 4x4 jeeps. You will be accompanied by an experienced naturalist who will explain and point out interesting flora and fauna. Ranthambore is one of India’s finest examples of dry deciduous forest intersposed with grassland. It is where geographical zones merge and it is possible to see the tigers from the overhead area. The entire forest has scattered battlements & spill overs of the Ranthambore Fort, where tigers are said to frequent the ruins.
Day 8 –Ranthambhore / Jaipur
Enjoy schedule morning game drives at Ranthambore National Park by
exclusive jeep.
After lunch, you will be met and chauffeured to Jaipur (4hrs drive).
Jaipur is where modernity and tradition exist side by side. The walled
city, vibrant with colours, houses the City Palace, an astronomical
observatory and a bustling bazaar where artisans fashion puppets, silver
jewellery, lac bangles and other handicrafts in their workshops. At a
short distance is the Amber Fort Palace at Amber.
On arrival check in at Sujan Raj Mahal Palace , The Royal Standard of
the House of Amber still flutters above Rajmahal Palace, one of the
oldest and most treasured palaces in the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur. Only the
City Palace and the royal family’s private forts hold this distinction.
Home to the Maharaja of Jaipur, this exquisite royal palace is located
at the heart of Rajasthan’s bustling capital. An enclosed oasis, secluded
in verdant gardens, Rajmahal Palace is the repository of a celebrated
history. Tall bay windows, mirrored doors and meticulously appointed
interiors allow guests to be transported to a new era of 21st century
regal living. Conceived by H.H Sawai Jai Singh II as a private palace, a
garden retreat, built for his beloved wife, Chandra Kanwar Ranawat ji,
the daughter of the Maharana of Mewar, Rajmahal Palace has stood
witness to over two hundred and fifty years of history.
Spend two nights at Sujan Raj Mahal Palace Hotel. Accommodation is in
a Palace Room with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on Bed & Breakfast
basis.
www.andBeyond.com Luxurious Rajasthan – 2019-20
Day 9 –Jaipur
Breakfast is at the hotel.
After breakfast you will be taken for a visit to Amber fort.
Amber Fort: It was once the ancient citadel of the ruling Kachhawa clan
of Amber, before the capital was shifted to present day Jaipur. Amber
Fort is known for its unique artistic style, blending both Hindu and
Muslim (Mughal) elements, and its ornate and breathtaking artistic
mastery.
Also visit the Anokhi Museum of Hand-Block Printing within walking
distance of the Amer Fort. The Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing is
situated in a beautifully restored mansion, or haveli. Dedicated to the
history of hand printing, it features displays such as block printed
textiles, old photographs, antiquated wood and brass tools, and other
objects that provide a window into this ancient craft. The art of block
textile printing can be traced back centuries and is by far the oldest
form of textile printing. It was practised across the East by imprinting
various patterns onto textiles by means of chiselled wooden blocks.
Today, India is one of the largest producers and exporters of block
printed fabrics in the world. The museum also houses contemporary
textile works, featuring pioneering designs fashioned by talented
artisans. The structure in which the museum is housed was
carefully restored by expert craftsmen using traditional materials and
designs, earning a well-deserved UNESCO award for Cultural Heritage
Conservation.
Later, you will be taken for a tour of Jaipur city exploring City Palace,
marvelling at the ancient astronomical instruments in the Observatory
Tower and admiring the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds):
City Palace: A wonderful combination of Mughal and Rajput forms of
architecture, it is now partly a museum housing miniature paintings,
manuscripts, Mughal carpets, musical instruments, royal costumes and
weapons, giving invaluable insight into Jaipur's royal past.
Observatory Tower or the Jantar Mantar was built between 1728 and
1734 and it houses precise instruments for measuring “the harmony of
heavens”. Each instrument serves a particular function and gives an
accurate reading.
Hawa Mahal (Photo stop only): perhaps Jaipur’s most famous building;
the Hawa Mahal is the pink sandstone façade of a palace built for the
ladies of the harem by Sawai Pratap Singh. The façade contains 953
small casements under a huge curve, each with a balcony and crowning
www.andBeyond.com Luxurious Rajasthan – 2019-20
arch. The windows enable cool air (Hawa) to circulate and the zenana
to watch processions below without being seen.
In the evening enjoy a visit to Dera Amer wherein you can spend some
time with the gentle Giant “The Asian Elephant” with dinner.
Dera Amer situated behind the hills of the famous Amer Fort is the ideal
location for outdoor recreational and adventure activities in very close
proximity to the city of Jaipur. The Camp is located at the foothills of
the Aravali Range and surrounded by the wilderness of a reserved forest
with no urban civilization in the vicinity, just a few hamlets housing the
local villagers occupied by farming on the their fields bordering a pretty
lake.
Day 10 –Jaipur / Delhi
Morning at Leisure.
Later you will be driven to Jaipur Airport for your flight to Delhi.
On arrival at Delhi Airport you will be met and assisted to your
