Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a wonder-ful and safe Holiday. In themidst of that crazy time of yearit is nice to remember thoseless fortunate, those who areserving our country and the truemeaning of the season. It is agreat time of year to look out-ward and serve those aroundus.

With the start of 2015 alongwith the many ads for tread-mills, and plastic totes to storeall the of the stuff we don’t useanymore it is a great time ofyear to not look back but lookforward to the future. In WestPoint 2015 will be a year ofchange. The biggest and mostexciting change will be the con-struction and opening of theSmith’s Marketplace. It will alsobe a year with major road con-struction as we start the widen-ing and improvement along3000 West from 300 North to1300 North. With this con-

struction project we will alsoconstruct three new round-abouts at 550 North, 800 Northand 1300 North.

I have been Mayor now for sixyears and in that time I have hada chance to interact with otherMayors and City Councilsthroughout Davis County. Dur-ing this time I have had one im-pression hit me over and overagain. We are very lucky inWest Point to have the peoplewe have serving on our citycouncil. I have said this to asmany who would listen to me,but we have the best, most ex-perienced city council in North-ern Utah. Just doing quick mathI believe our five current councilmembers have a combined ten-ure of 45 years of service on justthe city council alone. There isnot a doubt in my mind thatWest Point City is so lucky tohave these five individuals withall their experience serving rightnow in our great city. Each andevery one bring a level of experi-

I havelearned so much from these fivemen and I can tell you withoutany doubt that each one of themhave left the city better than theyfound it. I appreciate their ser-vice and dedication to makingour city the best around.

I am honored to represent such afine community. I wear the titleof Mayor with great pride as Irepresent such a wonderfulgroup of people and a place Ihave called home my entire life.Change is most certainly comingwith the addition of our firstlarge commercial project. I giveyou my word that I will worktirelessly with our great councilto make sure we continue tomake decisions that will enhanceand benefit our city for years tocome. I encourage any whowould like to see our great CityCouncil in action to attend ourcity council meetings on the first

and third Tuesdays of eachmonth. For the most part weusually see very few people out-side of high school students whohave to attend for their gradeand some of our fine scouts whoare working on their citizenshipin the community merit badge.You can also stay up to date byvisiting our website, twitter ac-count and Facebook 2015. Wehave some great and excitingthings coming in 2015 along withsome great events so stay tunedto those different social mediaoutlets to make sure you cantake full advantage of the activi-ties we offer each year.
