Working directly with the United States Environmental Protection Agency NVFEL, McNaughton-McKay provided photometric studies and lighting suggestions for both interior applications and site lighting. Interior upgrades consisted of new T5 and T5HO fluorescent volumetric-style fixtures, a significant technology improvement from the existing near-obsolete T12 parabolic style. Exterior upgrades consisted of new LED light fixtures mounted to existing poles, replacing the existing, less efficient 400W MH HID fixtures.

National Vehicle & Fuel Emissions Lab, 2010 NVFEL in Ann Arbor, MI is the primary EPA research laboratory used for fuel and emissions testing. Work carried out in this laboratory supports the efforts of the Office of Air and Radiation (OAR) and the Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ) to establish and enforce emission standards for motor vehicles, engines, and fuels, as well as the development of automotive technology.

The Cedars of Dexter Clubhouse, a new construction project completed in 2010, McNaughton-McKay worked directly with the interior designer and was instrumental in all of the fixture selections for the multi-use space. The project included fine and casual dining spaces, fitness center and pool, as well as gathering & entrances, entertainment rooms, and auxiliary spaces.

The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute has signed a lease to consolidate some of its office workers into a 17,500 square foot space in the MidMed Plaza building. The Detroit-based cancer center will use the new space at 4265 John R St. for administrative office space, said Media Relations Manager Patricia Ellis. The cancer center will be across the street from Detroit Medical Center. (2003)

The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center is a tenant space fit-out located across the street from Detroit Medical Center. The project was completed in 2010. McNaughton-McKay worked on the single-story Design/Build project with the electrical contractor to select lighting fixtures and wireless sensors to utilize newest technology and optimize energy savings.

Ford Motor Company is making a $1.3 billion investment in its Hermosillo stamping and assembly plant in Sonora, Mexico. The investment will create 1,000 new jobs directly at Ford. They will manufacturer the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ midsize sedans for the North American market. (April 2003)

Completed in 2012, McNaughton-McKay brought together a Tier 1 industrial supplier and industry-leading lighting manufacturer in a collaborative effort to conceptualize and specify a custom solution for inspection lighting stations at their manufacturing facility in Sonora, Mexico.

Comau Innovation Center, 2012 The Comau Innovation Center in Southfield, Michigan was an upgrade effort completed in 2012 in which McNaughton-McKay worked directly with the end user. Existing 1000W HID fixtures were replaced with 10-lamp T5HO fluorescent highbays, providing a significant energy savings and light quality improvement.

DMC Auditorium Remodel, 2009

McNaughton-McKay worked with the Detroit Medical Center’s Construction Service Company to suggest lighting solutions for their auditorium remodel in 2009. Of primary concern was lighting the stage and seating spaces, which was achieved using high-performance compact fluorescent recessed can fixtures.

Russell Video Parking Lot Addition, 2011 After attending our 100-Year Anniversary party, Russell Video, a video production & development company, and neighbor to McNaughton-McKay, approached us to suggest exterior LED wall-packs to replace their existing HID units, as well as incorporate into a building & parking lot addition they were doing. We provided multiple options, photometrics, installation instructions, and cut sheets.

During the course of a project we were running in-house, we came in contact with the architect regarding the exterior walkway area. His goal was to replace the value-engineered bollards with something more aesthetically appealing, but maintain adequate light levels. We recommended options with their respective cut sheets, photometrics, and price impact to the job, and developed a positive relationship in the process.

Adams & Associates Landscape Architect came to us in 2013 to design a small parking lot in Midland, MI with new LED site lighting. Adams included McMc’s photometric unaltered in their proposal.

In 2012, McNaughton-McKay was brought an opportunity by one of our loyal contractors to suggest an LED lighting solution for a parking lot addition to the Oakdale Recovery Center in Canton, MI. Using AGi32 3D rendering photometric software, we offered a solution that met the township ordinance requirements, provided adequate light levels, and fell within the end user’s budget.
