Analyzes and writes an essay in a variety of contexts by understanding the stages of writing an essayPerformance indicators:Learns the different stages of essay writing, distinguishes and applies them.

RationaleBeing able to communicate effectively in a written way is an important skill to be proficient, so knowing how to write an essay is necessary to achieve that desired proficiency.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURESa.Focusing event - Warm up:

Running dictation: : T divides the class into 4 groups. T puts several copies of a text on the wall. One student from each group runs to the text, memorizes and chunk/clause/sentence and returns to the group and dictates. Students take turns to do this until everyone has a complete version of the text.

b. Teaching procedures

Presentation: a) activate prior knowledge: T gives a KWL chart to each student. Student fill out the K part of their chart about Essays.

T projects KWL chart on the whiteboard. b) emphasize function : T presents a power point presentation about what is an essay.

c) establish structures : T presents a power point presentation with the information about the parts of the essay.

d) check-up : T presents an essay upon the projector. Students identify the parts of the essay in chorus.

Guided practice/ Controlled practice: Answer a questionnaire about the different stages of writing an essay.

Free practice: Write an essay .

c. Wrap-up: mind map

d. Reteach activity (if needed): T summarizes the parts of the essay in an oral way.

e. Student Participation Complete the KWL chart

f. Closure: Music video about how to write an essay.
