Dear Parents and Community
Welcome to our first newsleer for
2017. I trust that you all had a lovely
holiday and spent some quality me
with family and friends. We have
already had a very busy start to the
year with an incursion in week one and
swimming lessons beginning today. It is
lovely to see our students returning
with their usual posive a#tudes and
passion to achieve. It is such a pleasure
to come to school and see such
beauful smiley faces every day!
STAFFING
Miss Elise Currie is working in the
Senior Room this year and is already
doing some wonderful learning with
our children. Elise joins us from
Geraldton and is very excited to be
part of our community. Miss Charloe
Huggins is back working in the Junior
Room which is fantasc news for us.
Charloe has a real passion for Early
Childhood Educaon and has some
brilliant programs ready for 2017. Mrs
Susan Dennis is working as our DOTT
teacher on Monday in the Senior Room
and Friday in the Junior Room. The
remainder of our ever capable staff
remain the same for 2017 and I know
that you, as I am, are always grateful
for the professionalism and dedicaon
that Vikki, Sue, Cinny, Kylie & Geoff
give to our school.
CLASSROOM NEWS
Miss Huggins, Miss Currie and Mrs
Dennis have all been working hard on
their curriculum programs which have
already resulted in our students
producing some excellent work within
their classrooms. The Juniors are
learning about the ‘b’ sound whilst the
Seniors are wring using RASMOP.
Miling students are known for the
pride they show in their work and I
look forward to watching this pride and
high standard of work connue to
grow.
KINDY
As a Miling Primary School community,
we would like to welcome our new
Kindy students and their parents for
2017. Zoe, Caitlyn and Xavier have
already produced an excellent painng,
learnt how to draw faces, wrien their
name and showed Mrs Lehmann their
leer-sound knowledge. They all seem
to be enjoying being part of the Junior
Room and we love having them here.
PARENT INFO SESSION
A note went out last week about our
Parent Informaon Sessions to be held
on Thursday the 9th
in the Library. I
would encourage all parents to aend
these sessions as they will give you an
opportunity to meet your child’s
teacher and understand their
classroom rounes and expectaons.
Each teacher will also hand out a copy
of their metable and term outline.
The Junior Room session is at 2pm with
the Senior Room session at 2:30pm.

INTERM SWIMMING LESSONS
Our children started swimming lessons today and will connue with their lessons unl Wednesday,
week four. A note went home to parents about lessons but just a reminder that children need to
bring a full water bole, a snack packed separately to take to the pool, bathers, towel, underwear
and a rashie each lesson. Oponal items include thongs to wear to the pool and goggles. Children
do not need to come to school in their bathers (unless stated otherwise on the note) as they will be
given me to change at school before we leave.
SCHOOL CHAPLAIN
We would like to congratulate Wil Cooper and his wife Jody on the arrival of their new lile boy,
Joseph, who arrived on the 3rd
of February. We wish Jody and Wil all the best with their new bundle
of joy. Wil will begin his year with us in week four, aLer spending some quality me with his new
family. When Wil returns, he will connue to work with us on a Friday, focusing on running Game
Factory, meeng regularly with our Student Leaders and providing support in our classrooms.
JOHN BUDIESELIK INCURSION
We were lucky enough to secure Mr John Budiselik, published author, for an interacve incursion
on Friday the 3rd
. John met with myself before school started to go over the curriculum component
and then conducted a hands on workshop with both rooms throughout the day. John had our stu-
dents learning about the different components of poetry and narrave wring which resulted in
some brilliant poems being produced. Please head to our website for a more detailed update.
THANK YOU
I cannot believe we are only two weeks into the year, yet I have a handful of people to thank
already! I would like to thank our P&C for organising the Community BBQ on Saturday and to
everyone who aended. It was lovely to see such a great turn out. Thank you to Paul White and Jack
Mincherton for going to Ballidu Primary School yesterday to collect some resources that have been
kindly donated to us. Thank you to Ian Seymour and Mark McCuish for coming to school last week
to do some work on our Nature Playground. I would also like to thank Kade Georgy, Alan Seymour,
Mark McCuish and Gary Bailey for pu#ng together our new outdoor furniture and poster drawer.
And last, but certainly not least, big thanks to Michelle Barnard for kindly volunteering her me to
drive the bus to and from Moora for swimming lessons. As a staff member, I am so appreciave to
have so many wonderful and supporve parents and community members around.
Kind Regards
Ashlyn Siviour
PRINCIPAL A khaki camping chair has been left at school following the
Community BBQ on Saturday night.

THE LISTIES 6D ( *It's Twice as Good as 3D)
10.00 AM - THURSDAY 9TH MARCH 2017
The winner of Sydney Theatre Award for Best Children’s Production:
THE LISTIES 6D* (*It’s Twice as Good as 3D) - Back by popular demand!
Get ready because Australia’ s most sought after kids’ comedians are on the road with their award winning show 6D (*It’s Twice as Good as 3D) , a sketch comedy show all about the movies. Expect haunted backpacks, ninja nans, toilet paper guns and an actual movie made at every performance on a helmet mounted GoPro!
Anarchic, unruly and guaranteed to have the whole family (even dads) rolling in the aisles, the Listies forgo the usual pitfalls of kids’ entertainment like fairies and princesses and instead stuff their shows with all the highbrow things that kids really love like fart jokes and vomiting puppets. Best of all it’ s 100% education free! They aim to make their entire audience (adults included) laugh from start to finish. Expect LOLs, ROLFs and the even ROFLSHALBOWCOs (rolling on the floor laughing so hard a little bit of wee comes out).
The Listies 6D* (*It's Twice as Good as 3D) is six dimensions of fun: 1. Raucous 2. Disgusting 3. Hilarious 4. Interactive 5. Messy 6. Insane
The end of nice sanitised kids entertainment as we know it. Rated S for stupid. "A live comedy experience kids and their grown-ups can share...a winner" Sydney Morning Herald “If the Wiggles are the Eagles then the Listies are the Sex Pistols.” The Age “The Listies are a comedy duo who have made a very successful career out of appealing to, well not only the little kid in all of us, but the grubby, grubby little kid in all of us.”Virginia Trioli, ABC News Breakfast.
Tickets available from www.trybooking.com/OLXU Ticket Prices: General Admission (Age 5+) $10, Child (Age 2-4) $5, Family (2+2) $35
