International Recruitment: Questions to consider:

Provincially-administered, made-in-SK immigration program.

Established under federal-provincial agreement

Eligibility reflects Saskatchewan’s economic and labour market needs;

SINP nominations and work permits are processed through IRCC

system SINP nominate applicants to the federal government for

permanent resident status.

Step 1: Apply for a Certificate of Registration • Employer submits information to: Government of Saskatchewan, Employer Services

Step 2: Apply for an SINP Job Approval Letter (JAL) • Employer submits information to: Government of Saskatchewan, Employer Services

Step 3: Search Internationally • Employer screens, recruits, and hires (note: candidate may already work for you)

Step 4: Prepare the Letter of Job Offer (JO) • Employer prepares formal offer of employment listing (i.e. position, wage, benefits, etc.)

Step 5: Foreign Worker applies to the SINP • Employer: provides JAL and JO to Candidate

• Candidate: applies to SINP (Government of Saskatchewan, SINP)

Candidate is successful for nomination

Employer: Pays for Employer Compliance Fee (IRCC), if applicable

• Candidate: Applies for Work Permit & PR (Government of Canada, Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

International Recruitment Employer Roles and Responsibilities

• Under the FWRISA, Employers must retain the following records for a

minimum of 5 years:

Any contract with a recruiter and amounts paid;

Any job offers to foreign nationals;

Any SINP job application approvals;

LMIA approvals;

Any work permit information pertaining to foreign workers hired by

you.

• It is a dual responsibility between the employer and employee to

ensure that the work permit is valid at all times.

An individual cannot work for your company unless they have a

work permit or permanent residency, whichever comes first.
