Welcome to new student Hayley (yr 5). I am sure she will make friends quickly and settle-in well.

Well done to the Rugby League team on their com-petition at Ulladulla last Fri-day. The team played well and everyone tried their hardest. We lost to Bate-mans Bay PS in the shield game and won against Mil-ton PS. All the boys played

really well — Miss Millie was very proud of you. See page 3 for some action shots.

Well done to Duke K on competing at the regional cross country last Friday as well. Duke had been training hard at school with the football and soccer teams as well as at home. Congratulations also go to Mr Hamish Taylor for being elected as the South Coast Team Manager who will attend the State Carnival next term.

Track Athletics Carnival – Gundary Oval Wed 13 June Next Wednesday is our track carnival at Gundary for all students in Yrs 2-6 (8 yrs up). The field carnival will be held the following week here at school. All students are ex-pected to compete in their age events and will need to bring plenty of water, hats and warm clothes in case the weather becomes cold. Parents and friends are welcome to attend. There is a great need for parent help as much as possible as officials on the day. Please let Mrs Allison know–4474 2363 or send a note in with your child/ren. Aboriginal Education Committee Meeting – Wednesday 7 June @3:15pm - Please come and have some afternoon tea at the meeting at 3:15pm in the Staff Room. There is room to bring the kids.

Attendance-The classroom teacher is responsible for con-tacting parents when there is an unexplained absence of a student after 3-5 days. This is a department requirement. A note is usually sent home requesting an explanation and then followed-up with a phone or personal contact. The explanation needs to be reasonable; for example; “My child was tired/slept in”; is not reasonable on a regular occurrence. (on a one-off occasion it maybe acceptable when for example back late at night from a school excur-sion). The school’s attendance rate is at the lowest it has ever been and in many cases, no explanation has been provided. I urge parents to write/advise teachers of expla-nations as soon as possible so as further follow-up by the principal/executive staff and then the Home School Liaison Officer is not required. Student reports and Interviews - As with previous years, student reports will be given to parents at an interview time convenient to both. Interviews will be conducted in the last week of term on 4 & 5 July and other times will be made available for your convenience. Class notes will be sent home for parents to complete and select a time that suits. School Ski team-last chance to commit - The school is investigating the possibility of a school ski team to com-pete in a competition in term 3. If parents are interested in considering this then visit the following website to con-sider the cost and commitment. School students from all ability levels are encouraged to enter, with an emphasis on fun and participation in the initial Regional Championships. As the competitions move into the NSW State and Australi-an event, the level of competition and the degree of diffi-culty increases. It is advised that all competitors must be able to execute link turns and ride a chairlift/T-bar confi-dently, prior to competing in Regional Level events. Here is the website: https://nswinterschools.com.au/about-interschools If you are interested in your child participating then please return the note attached on page 3. Staff Training - This week, staff will receive training in school finance, catering for the individual learning needs of students and teaching writing.

Mark Hughes Foundation. We are selling beanies at Polly’s newsagent starting next week and also at the local football game 16th June to raise money for brain cancer research.

All money will go straight to the Mark Hughes foundation .

Please support this great cause, especially as brain cancer is dominant in people under 40s and is sadly increasing.
